    What Are My Chances?

This year's NAPS class had attendees with higher Math scores and GPAs. That isn't the whole picture when deciding who goes where. Some needed additional Math, some Chem or Physics. Just do the best you can to improve your application and USNA will decide if you are in, being sent to NAPS...

    c/o 2019 wait list

At NAPS graduation the Superintendent said the class of 2019 was the most intelligent, most diverse, and has the largest percentage of females (27%) than they've ever had. Sounds like a reasonable explanation to be "not selected".

    c/o 2019 wait list

Here's a life preserver....NAPSters got their appointments today. They have until May 12 to accept or decline. There tends to be at least one prior who decides they'd rather finish their enlisted commitment and get out faster so they decline their appointment. Maybe this year someone will do the...

What exactly does an LOA guarantee?

I meant the USNA attrition rate. Since they also changed some appointments to NAPS and many NAPSters seem better qualified academically this year it just made me wonder if it was a fluke due to the class of 2018 primary nom issue or some other anomaly or if USNA admissions is starting to send...

What exactly does an LOA guarantee?

Not an athlete, but a prior with a competitive high school resume from a top school, and exceptional enlisted qualifications (twice honor grad, 2 certificate of commendations, meritorious promotion, physical fitness award for perfect CFT, 4.0 GPA in college courses). He was sent to NAPS for a...

What exactly does an LOA guarantee?

That is correct Memphis9489. That quote was the exact wording on his waiver. I have wondered if that happens frequently for color blind waivers or not. Regardless, we're grateful he got the rare waiver. It could also be due more to the Class of 2018 primary nom issue. There are also a fair...

What exactly does an LOA guarantee?

My son had an LOA contingent upon a medical waiver for color blindness. He got his waiver but "due to an extremely limited number of medical waivers permitted for color vision deficiency" (usually only 3 per year) his waiver was approved for NAPS. Rare occurrences with LOAs happen every year...

2019 Permit to Report (PTR) Packages?

Besides copying the filled out forms, you should also scan them. I scanned and emailed them to both my work and personal email address then saved those emails. I was prepared when my DS called recently because the Navy medical staff couldn't locate his immunization records for some reason. Even...

    Is there a chance?

NAPS Class of 2015 started with 251 and is currently at 240. If the Napster fails a class or has a gpa below 2.2 they will not get an appointment. Could be 15-20 of those struggling right now. From the Class of 2018 Class Portrait...

    Appealing a TWE decision?

Thanks for all the great responses. This one is what I'm going with. I was skeptical when I read this parent encouraging a TWE recipient to appeal. I was hoping to find a few comments from those of you with much more knowledge and experience to help provide me with some cordial replies to...

    At this late date

I'm sorry if I alarmed you. Last year the acceptance process for the class of 2018 seems to have been a crazier ride for some than others and I really just want to make new folks aware that exceptions can happen. Each year seems to be more competitive than the last and the retention rate keeps...

    Appealing a TWE decision?

Just asked for more details. The DD was not a primary nom. She received a very early denial as she had submitted very early. The parent thinks because it was so early in the process that admissions might have given her DS's perseverance a harder look. Said they basically had her reapply...

    Appealing a TWE decision?

Yes, this happened last year for the class of 2018 application. The DD referred to in my OP is currently at NAPS and will be class of 2019. I agree that it probably an extreme exception and related to last year's mess. I didn't think to ask if she was a primary nom.

    Appealing a TWE decision?

I'm acquainted with the parent through NAPS. We've socialized during parent weekend there. Seems to be a very reliable source.
