I commissioned in May 2018 and EAD’d Sept 30th...I used my secret clearance to get a job as a security guard at a DOD facility. Had excellent pay and I was able to work 60+ hours a week so I saved a ton. I would say try and leverage your clearance to your advantage.

You will make lifelong friends in ROTC. I know I have. You'll get so close to these folks, and you'll probably grow pretty distant from friends from home. I personally have....unless they've experienced it, most people will never "get" the military lifestyle.

Yeah, I'm an AFROTC Cadet about to commission, and thankfully ALL AFROTC stuff is handled by cadre members, no recruiters. Always very shady to me how the Navy uses recruiters for NROTC and not actual folks who work in ROTC. All they want are their enlistments.

It is possible....I know someone who got an RPA slot like 3 weeks before their commissioning, and then a guy who got missiles, then RPA, then CSO....all finalized like 2 weeks before commissioning

Also an AS400. Gaining a gut worked wonders for my ABUs! But I digress- I'd say go on base and find a set that works best, and go with those. For boots, I love my Rocky C4Ts. But if you're going rated, you'll have to wear the flight approved/issued boots.
