  • More on undergraduate research. The standard procedure is as follows: Complete an application, describe your project, name facilities and equipment used and budget, complete project timeline, statement of support from faculty member regarding conduct and academic ability and originality of project. Finally get endorsement from the department chair. Submit all of this and your project can be approved or rejected. Many cadets get ideas and help from favorite professors. These can be anywhere from a year to four year projects! Requirements 2.5 GPA, project location must be at vmi or near it...Lastly the goals of the program is to expose cadets to the research process, pursue academic interests, and aid in career goals.
First off, wow tough major! The class of 2013 is only graduating less than five physics cadets. As far as undergraduate research, it's basically dependent upon your major. I know for biology you apply by writing a paper and asking a professor and he or she will interview you and that's how you get involved. Mostly it involves an application after your first fall semester. A lot of cadets participate in undergraduate research, in fact most upperclassmen that I know do. Yeah anytime, ask away!
Hey I'm a 4/C cadet at vmi. Also I'm from Southern California. If you decide to come here let me know, California boys are unique ponies at the mother I.
