    Oath at commissioning

Good point, but the only enlisted man he'd consider was killed in the previous chapter. And yes, she's an RAAF Pilot Officer. And as any American NCO would tell you, any foreign officer is only as good as our NCO's. (Joke!)

Must have been fatigue-induced dyslexia. Thanks for the correction.

    Oath at commissioning

Thanks for the info, guys. I did find the regulation, but since this is science fiction, I'm using the latter example with a special dispensation. Since he commanded the mission that brought the main characters to Earth as infants (who were then adopted by mostly military families from...

    Oath at commissioning

Okay, another right field pop-fly... (And sorry to dredge up an old thread.) Would it be allowable for a foreign (specifically RAAF or one from a "last member" of a dead world's service) officer to administer the oath? Also, what uniform is worn for this ceremony, as he's being commissioned a...

    Sword/Saber presentations?

Yeah, that's what I was going to have the protagonist in my current book do. One to his future wife, the other to his sponsor family.

    Sword/Saber presentations?

    That's what it was. Thanks.

    meal planning at USAFA

BTW, I learned long ago that new cadets are not Plebes. They're Doolies. (in reference to your second question)

    Sword/Saber presentations?

I read somewhere that swords or sabers are occasionally presented by graduating classes and/or cadets. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks! That's pretty much what I gathered from the video I found, but I appreciate the confirmation.

    Meals at USAFA

Thanks! I finally found a video that made it clear announcements were before meals, so I doubt much has changed since. (The current chapter is set in 2047, as one of the main characters is a member of the Class of 2048.)

    Meals at USAFA

I've seen videos from cadets where they have a snack drawer, so my guess would be yes, but I don't know the limitations.

    Meals at USAFA

Another question out of right field, since this is a thread about meals at Mitchell Hall: I see a lot of pictures with everyone at attention around the table before they sit down. What usually happens at this time? (I've been writing announcements/daily orders/etc. at the end of meals - I...

    OCP Uniform

Hmm... I think I'll come up with a color-appropriate subdued version for the books. They are set in the mid-21st century, after all. Plenty of time for the USAFA to decide what to do...
