I'd say to visit the program and college. I'm applying to Virginia Tech (first choice) and Penn State (second choice). I know first hand that VT has an amazing ROTC program and corps of cadets program.

For those that don't know me, I'm an avid camper. I've found that leathermans are the best for almost any type of activity you're doing. There are dozens of tools and gadgets for any situation. You can get them at just about any sporting/camping store.
