    USNA Waiver Process?

So maybe our BGO may be willing to release that info, and had I not read anything here, that would be A.OK. Just frustrated that I depended upon the guidance here on this forum, as opposed to letting her ask her BGO.....

    USNA Waiver Process?

Actually the "mods" ARE telling us this!! NOT the BGOs!! Please go back and read your own posts usna1985!!

    USNA Waiver Process?

This is a little frustrating.... Why do the mods on this forum keep telling us that the BGO's should not disclose whether or not a candidate is board qualified when clearly some (or most) disclose this to the candidates? My niece has not asked her BGO (per the info here!!) whether or not she...

    Confused about appointment

Really?! Thanks for the insight Navy Hoops!! My goal for tonight is to get that info from my firstie..haha!! He has been rather tight lipped this whole time! I have read posts from parents who have access to their Mids online account... NOT the case here. He is totally on his own (and I am...

    Confused about appointment

Agreed! My son was "recognized" by his Congressman, but we know for a fact that he was never charged to the Congressman's slate. Actually, to this day we do not know who he was charged to, therefore leading us to believe he was charged to this mysterious NWL...... But, the Congressman's do...

    Just curious...

This is just a curiosity question... I live in a district where our MOC submits a competitive slate. In my own humble opinion, I think this is the way to go. This way the Academy picks the best candidate based on all who apply. Why do MOCs want to do the primary thing? Why not let the...

    Admissions notifications

So the Admissions Board (the ones who sit around the table to discuss each candidate and then vote "yes" or "no") are simply determining if the candidate is qualified? Wow, I did not know that. I thought that is where the determination is made to offer an appointment. Who then in the...

    Consistency in the Nomination Process

My son was from a very competitive area as well. He received a nomination from his Congressman, but did not get noms from either senators. His friend, however, (who honestly was way less qualified), received a nom from both the Congressman AND the Senator. Everyone knows that this young man...

    NOMINATION OR APPOINTMENT CERTIFICATE?

Well, our Congressman stated more along the lines of MANY apply, buy only a few nominations are given out. He goes on to mention that even fewer receive appointments. Just sounds odd to say that "only a select few apply for a nomination". But we live in a very competitive district, so...

    NOMINATION OR APPOINTMENT CERTIFICATE?

Sad to say, but there are some MOC offices who truly do not know the difference between a nomination and an appointment. Case in point, please see recent thread entitled "c/o 2019 Appointees". There is a link in one of the posts where some of the candidates posted letters from their...

    c/o 2019 Appointees

Oh my goodness! Look at the nomination letter posted by one of the individuals. The nomination letter from the Congressman's office states "Only a select few students apply for a nomination to the United States Naval Academy, and even fewer receive a nomination."

    Call from Nominators

Yep! That happened in OH (Senator Brown). They did not have a slot for any AF Academy nominations. Sad thing was, that they did not let the candidates know until AFTER they did all the work for the nomination submission.... Wow!! BAD planning on their part:(
