SuaSponte provides good advice here. My son was recruited last year. He's a miler and distance guy and dealt mainly with the distance coach. His only interaction with the head coach was during the recruiting visit and that remains the same today.
On a similar note, if your work involves working with foreign government officials and it's detailed in the report (as it was), your son or daughter may get a visit from an investigator.
It happened to my son last year during lunch at Mitch's. The investigator pulled him away and asked him...
My DS is a C4C so I'm not sure of the In-Processing date for Class of 2017. The cadets do not march to Jack's Valley until the second half of BCT (Basic Cadet Training also known as Beast) The first half is spent at the Dorms learning the basics; drill, customs and courtesies, testing etc...
We also hail from Sea Level and the altitude still affects DS. I would have thought that all is cross country and track running would have cured him by now but he says he still gets winded walking up the stairs!
If memory service me correctly. We flew out on a Thursday and actually met up with DS that night. We met at the Chapel and then headed over to A hall for a bite to eat. Saturday Morning, he sat with us during the parade. He was not allowed to march as he is an IC (Cross Country/Track) and...
My DS is currently an IC for Cross Country and Track. When we were college "shopping", I went with him on all the official and unofficial visits and I personally did not want to pass up an opportunity to go visit the Air Force Academy when his coach offered to bring him out. I thoroughly...
I agree with the previous posters that having and keeping a Plan B alive is just good common sense. My son was a recruited athlete and had all the grades and EC's as well. It worked out for him (and continuous to work...he's class of 2016) however I'll share a little story.
On our...
I'm a Squadron Commander for Civil Air Patrol and I would agree with what Christcorp posts above. It would be more appropriate to be in a suit and tie. Feel free to share your Civil Air Patrol experience during the interview though as it will demonstrate to the MOC or Panel that you have...
Strike that! Now he's telling me that he can stay with us on Friday and needs to back to the Academy by 9:30Am on Saturday. Ah...the life of a Doollie!
Per my C4C, he stated that he had to be back by TAPS on Friday which is kind of a bummer. He's an IC (runs Cross Country) and we'll actually be going to his meet in Ft. Collins on Friday at 6PM but was hoping we could "collect" him after the meet and go straight back to the hotel. I'm hoping...
