I'm a Firstie ('20). Ask me anything! (Corona ed.)

Something interesting happens during Plebe Summer and any Mid reading can attest to this: For some reason, you come out of Plebe Summer with a stress eating habit. You shove food down your throat like no other time in your life. My best guess is that food is the only pleasurable thing that you...

The plank was an anomaly. Big Navy often uses USNA PRTs as "guinea pig trials" to see if they want to change the PRT. No one liked the plank, and if I recall correctly it dropped many people's PRT scores. That being said, expect to do situps when you show up.

All we received from the Supe was the fact that he cancelled commissioning week. The Dant did a live Q&A on Instagram the other day, and he expected our commissioning to be virtual. I have no idea what that means. Am I going to be in my Marine Dress Blues at home and they're going to FaceTime...

In retrospect, not that important. At the time, VERY important. I screamed like no other when I saw that cover being placed on top of the monument. I have no idea how 2023 will do their Herndon climb, but it's interesting how the Supe will handle all of this. Very interesting times.

Academics on its own is not hard. But the Midshipman + Plebe life will hit you like a freight train going at Mach 1. Many people get Ds and Fs for the first time in their life and it hits them hard. The common fear among Plebes is usually Plebe Chem and Calculus. Naval aviation does care about...

Your reputation during Plebe Summer will carry you all four years at the Academy (this is assuming you stay with your classmates this whole time). During Plebe Summer, maintaining a stoic mindset will carry you far. You know trouble is coming; *****ing and moaning about it in your mind is gonna...

Hello all! I hail from the US Naval Academy Class of 2020. Other than the wartime classes, our class probably has had one of the most colorful Naval Academy careers - good and bad. I recently got transferred to N*avy Online University. I did one of these in the fall of 2019 and I enjoyed...

    NASS and Corona Virus

Too early to tell at this point in time. Three main focuses of USNA (other than the health and well-being of the Midshipmen): 1. Graduating the Class of 2020 on time. 2. Inducting the Class of 2024 on time. 3. Academics must resume to minimize the impact it will have on Midshipman summer...

    NASS and Corona Virus

I'm a 1/C, our online classes started today. The single biggest priority of the Superintendent and his staff is graduating the Class of 2020 on time with their degrees. It is absolutely paramount that they report to their follow-on trainings (TBS, Flight School, BDOC, etc) on time. Failure to...

The quote that comes to mind is the Naval Academy "Is a great place to be from, not a great place to be at". The favorite aspect would be the fact that I'm living right now in "The good ol' days". No officer responsibilities I have to worry about, no ARIs of your sailors, no qualifications or...

Yep. 30 is correct. Both myself and my classmate's suggestion is that you must focus on getting in here first if that's what you want to do. Don't worry about the PST nor the SEAL Screener. You have 2 years here to train for it. The NavSpecWar Center at Coronado also has a training program...

Two parts. USNA was my goal since 8th Grade. I'm a very goal oriented person and I was not going to let my childhood dream down. I knew I wanted to commission - if USNA didn't work out I planned on enlisting, then using my GI Bill to get a commission. On top of that, there is something about...

For me it was USNA or sink. I wanted to go here since 8th grade.
