55 Coast Guard Academy Cadets Disciplined

Yeah, sounds like they need more than just an Honor 'concept' to put some motivation into it.

    Jobs in medicine

The Air Force Academy has a program to send graduates through an accelerated one year Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Vanderbilt University, Lots of talk about medical school but very little about where the jobs are - in nursing.

    Recruiting woes

Can you name a civilian job that offers free medical care, generous retirement after 20 years, housing allowance, paid moving expenses and 30 days paid vacation a year??? Maybe the pay rates could be increased a bit but how high is 'competitive' for somebody with no job skills and a high school...

Container Ship Strikes Scott Key Bridge in MD

Proper barriers would have stopped this vessel; some states are retrofitting bridges with large bumpers to absorb the impact of a vessel strike, most notably the Delaware Memorial Bridge which carries I-95. Given the wakeup call from the Sunshine Skyway disaster decades ago the failure of the...

Somehow this seems to be flying under the radar

Military personnel levels have been very cyclical for decades, what else is new.

    USAFA Grad Crowned Miss America

NOT a pilot, scheduled to attend UPT after grad school. Really shaking my head at some of the news stories calling her a "fighter pilot" when she hasn't even attended flight training and won't even know what aircraft she will fly until near the end of UPT.

The Defense Secretary's Curious New Year's Hospital Stay

Reports say he has prostate cancer. But hey this is all nothing new for this dumpster fire of an administration.

    Good news hopefully

a slick American lawyer could probably get him off on the negligent homicide charge but it wouldn't protect him from being hit with a civil suit

    Eyesight question.

You are misreading; only need to be correctable to 20/20 for certain specialties like aviation and special operations, the basic standard is vision no worse than 20/200 correctable to at least 20/40.

    ADHD and Service Academies

You are a little confused; all cadets at VMI and The Citadel are required to take ROTC and those two schools commission more officers than any civilian ROTC program. If ROTC is a 'commissioning program' and all the cadets at a school are required to take it why would you not consider that...

Coast Guard Academy supports transitioning (male to female) cadet

Careful about calling trans people 'mentally ill', you will get banned for "offensive speech".

Junior Military Colleges to Academy for College Students

Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania has a Junior College program and they also have an agreement with USMA to give favorable treatment to applicants but it is still competitive and requires a high GPA and SAT. If high school was a struggle the service academies may not be for you so...

    2024 Rhodes Scholars

SAs get Rhodes winners more out of habit and to keep up their image, note too how the majority of civilian winners come from liberal colleges that also need to maintain their image as 'top flight'; and also because the committee that makes the decisions is full of liberal academics.

    NORAD Closes Their "Tavern"

You assume that Tailhook was a learning experience but hey you can't fix stupid.

    Marine Dies in Training Incident

Doubly tragic since another rollover incident in 2019 killed a young officer I knew; his parents have lobbied congress for reforms and a new pilot safety program was started but it obviously hasn't been effective.
