    Interesting read for ROTC

The test used for the scholarship is not the APFT, it is a 1 minute push-ups, sit-ups and 1 mile with a max 50 points for each of the 3 areas.

What is the real story with Army ROTC?

I don’t have any answers for you but I do have a question your son might want to consider ask, it might shed light on why they might suggest SMP, which you are correct would happen after his freshman year so it makes no sense to sign anything now. What is the school’s mission for AD cadets his...

Question for female ROTC cadets (or former cadets)

I can only speak for Army. My DD is a 2LT, she went to a private university, we always told our kids the same that we were prepared to pay for an in state public university anything above and beyond was up to them. That was not her reason for pursuing ROTC and a national scholarship, she had...

    Ranger Team?

I do want to clarify, there is a minimum one MS1 and one female, however, that doesn’t mean that there can’t be more than one of either, just that there is a minimum. It is possible like mentioned above at a smaller program, or just out performing others that there can be more than one.

    Ranger Team?

Every team has to have one freshman and one female. It can be the same person, it does not have to be. Also there are alternates as well, And of course you will have more opportunities. Members will graduate, could get injured, or just choose not to return.

    Army PFT and ROTC Eligibility

My daughter started training during her senior year and then stepped it up during the summer, which was a challenge because she was work off in a kitchen as a volunteer at a youth camp and didn’t have a lot of time, but still got it done. For her classmate, she worked hard during the school...

    Questions concerning rotc

I can speak some to Army. For national scholarship process, you apply summer/fall of your senior year, and they award 4 year and 3 year AD scholarships. Nursing scholarships are specifically only for nurses, and if awarded a nursing scholarship you will be expected to become a nurse. My daughter...

    Army PFT and ROTC Eligibility

ACFT is being challenged right now, that is why Mohawkarmy said it is in Limbo, so it is not allowed to be used for the record. My daughter did the ACFT at Infantry BOLC the last 5 months as part of her training but not as part of her assessment, and therefore it was not officially recorded...

    Army PFT and ROTC Eligibility

My daughter started her freshman year on a national 3 year AD scholarship, which meant she would need to pass her physical fitness test prior to contracting sophomore year, however, at her school the school covered room and board all four years even for 3 year winners, but she had to pass the...

How do you determine scholarship amount at schools?

Like said above, you approach it as choice A, B, C, etc. Meaning A, would be dream school (get into it) plus a Type 1 AFROTC scholarship which pays full tuition, then define each beyond that. For my DD, she was going for a nursing scholarship, so she picked schools with nursing, AROTC, and...

    Arotc reduction (rumor)

This was true for my DD, specifically Army ROTC with a national scholarship was plan A, then plan B was Army ROTC and compete for campus based scholarship, and plan C was to contract as a junior if no scholarship was earned. Luckily plan A worked out. I have heard her respond when asked why she...

    Input Needed

First of all, congratulations, you are sitting in a great situation with and enviable opportunity for a debt free education from one of the nations most desirable universities. Before I start, I have no relevant personal information, of your exact choice. My DD did not apply to the academy and...

This cadet was DQ'd by DODMERB

This could have happened to anyone, the DoDMERB process is one that is confusing, congrats to your daughter that worked out so well and that she is thriving!! This forum helped a ton learning that once it is checked on DoDMERB it is forever! I had shared this with my daughter before she got to...

Cant Register for Army ROTC Account

This is just a guess, the portal is closed for this year and won’t open for rising HS seniors until June 12th. I would try registering for an account after the portal opens.
