You have to let this go. Do not dwell on other people getting appointments while you wait for yours. Only the admissions committee knows why they made whatever decision they made.
Focus on what you can control.

You can apply to medical school right out of ROTC--like graduate from college and commission (but not onto active duty) and then go to a medical school either USUHS (which is active duty) or use an HPSP for a civilian medical school.
