NO AFROTC ICSP or 2014 Field Training???

Right now AFROTC is thinking about adding a Rated Non-Technical Board where non-tech majors who want a rated slot will compete for EA before the rest of the Non-techs would. The estimate for the amount of EAs going to non-techs is at 20% so it would be slim pickings.

    AROTC Cadet to AFROTC?

You can join AFROTC during your junior year but you have to either extend your graduation date or attend graduate school to accommodate the three year minimum requirement. If you do attend graduate school there is a higher standard for those that are in graduate school (higher AFOQT scores...

Crossing to the other side for a semester?

My university has an AROTC and an AFROTC. As an AFROTC cadet, I see almost every weekday AROTC guys wearing their ACUs together in packs whereever they go. It really makes me jealous that they are able to mingle amongst each other on campus since they are not a crosstown detachment and our...

    AFROTC tips for transfer students

I'm not sure about you but I feel that it is more harder for someone to get an A in Calculus compared to Business Management 101 and that's another reason why the AFROTC lowers the standard for Tech majors. The Air Force is certainly looking for Comp Sci according to the administration of my...

    AFROTC tips for transfer students

Add an additional year so that you can go through the 4 year program. Being a 3 year cadet is very stressful with the combination of dual major and having to show that you want to be an Air Force officer. I've seen many 3 year cadets switch down to the freshmen class so that they can have more...

    5 year programs?

It's possible to be in AFROTC for 5 years as many cadets with Engineering degrees (Like me) spread out their curriculum in a 5 year period. In a 5 year program, you would do 2 years as a GMC (A cadet completing for a slot in Field Training) and 3 years as a POC (A cadet being trained to become...

    Entering ROTC as a sophomore?

I've contacted kevster some time ago before he went to SFT and talked about my prospects as an AFROTC cadet. He's been helpful on how I can be successful in cadet life. Congratulations on your son being commissioned! I commend him for getting a commission during one of the roughest times for...

I am at UMCP. My SAT score was 1210 and my ACT score was 28.

    Entering ROTC as a sophomore?

I'm wondering if there is any drawbacks in taking both freshman and sophomore AFROTC classes simultaneously. My CGPA is not that great (3.0) and I changed my major to a non-tech one so I know that I need to get outstanding grades this fall to be even considered for SFT.

    Air Force speech impediment?

Basically I cannot pronounce my R's correctly. It usually comes out as w like Elmer Fudd. From what I understand, this impediment can be fixed with speech therapy. I just want to know if the Air Force would eliminate me from having any chance in the rated field with the speech impediment or even...

    University of Maryland ROTC.

Pima, if I don't get a rated slot my backup plan is Intel or Engineering. I understand it is a hurdle to become a pilot but with just a small chance I will still try. I would be much better off attempting and fail rather than never to try at all. Even if I do fail to become a pilot I would be...

    Can you transfer into ROTC?

My source may not be entirely accurate as it comes from accounts made by various ROTC cadets but getting into ROTC during your junior year now is extremely hard. AFROTC had discontinued the additional week in Summer Field Training for any new juniors that would have to waive the first two years...

    University of Maryland ROTC.

Thank you all for the information. I'm more inclined into the Air Force ROTC for the chance of being a pilot.

    University of Maryland ROTC.

I'm going to enroll into either AFROTC or AROTC at College Park. Does anyone have a brief rundown of the two programs at College Park specifically? I've contacted both AFROTC and AROTC and the Air Force seemed the most inviting and responsive. If there's any cadets from either program please...

    Choosing a major?

Thank you all for your opinions! Sorry about ditching for about a week. Wanted to spend some time with my family members after exhausting myself on school and work. Just to clear some things up on my objectives I really have a strong desire in flying so I have a large interest in learning how...
