    This is why fitness matters

He's saying that a 12 mile ruck march shouldn't be that difficult, and that's not the reason most people fail the EFMB. I agree with Scout, it's something every officer should be able to do regardless of MOS.

Words of wisdom to those applying for co2020

I had my wisdom teeth removed mid-June, and it worked out fine for me.

my future and which service academy would be the best to follow them

scoutpilot, my class currently has over 70 vying for the 20ish medical school slots. Crazy how competitive it has become in the last 5 years.

If you're frustrated waiting for the BFE, this maybe why.

West Point actually has a relatively high acceptance rate for those who finish the application and are academically, medically, and physically qualified. Not including those who earn a nomination, by percentages alone, it's a slightly lower than 50% chance to get accepted once triple qualified...

SLE and general West Point application questions

Yes, the SLE application I remember was very short too. And yes as well, your full application will not open until the earliest late June / early July.

    Summer training after Plebe year

Combat Dive school is probably the hardest try-out and subsequently one of the hardest schools you can attend in the Army. One of my friends in my company completed the try-out, and after the Army physical fitness test, indoor obstacle course test, 8-9 mile ruck march, pull-up test, and I think...

    Summer training after Plebe year

Most ABN slots did not go to upperclassmen. I can attest that 4 plebes in my company received ABN and no upperclassmen did. As a whole probably 75%-80% of airborne and air assault slots went to plebes. Rather, the sheer number of air assault slots versus airborne slots results in most plebes...

    question about Medical branch

Many of my friends are currently working on this. What generally happens is that you will have to specify that you are attempting to attend medical school and branch Medical Corps (if I am correctly interpreting your question) early on in your cadet career (think end of plebe year / beginning...

Army announces 60 signees today for football team.

Hard to say. At every brief this past year, the Supt has reiterated his biggest concerns besides creating the best officers for the country are beating Navy in football and combating sexual harassment/assault at West Point. As you can tell, the latter is going pretty well, at least from an...

    Candidate slots?

You are looking at it from a district perspective. I came from TN-07 (now TN-08) and we had 67 people apply, 10 nominated, and 3 get it. So yes in some districts it may seem either high (ex: some places in Virginia perhaps Texas, nearly all 10 candidates nominated were accepted), or low (ex...

Which is more important? GPA or ACT scores?

What I've heard is 30% of your entire file is ACT/SAT scores, and 30% is class rank, not gpa. They want to see your performance relative to others in your high school.

Do I have a good chance of getting into USMA?

Everything looks extremely competitive except your ACT scores. Remember scores are a very large part of your application, near 30%, so even a superscored 29 is not as high as I believe it should be. I would shoot for at least above a 30, but with the rest of your competitive application, you...

    Sports

To add one more thing, I have spoken with a member of the admission's committee here, and she said that the 30% leadership pillar is further broken down into 15% leadership in activities and extra curricular, and 15% in sports/athletics. So, even though I did band and chorus all 4 years of high...

    Letter of Assurance- Grades?

They will let B's slide, and will probably let one C go, but no more. Since you are near the end of the trimester, focus and ace your exams, and hopefully you can bring that C up. From past CCs posting on here, it seems that one C will definitely get some notice from West Point, but not to the...
