Thought I would try to get this badly derailed thread back on the tracks...
My DS applied to all five of the service academies. He got nominations from every interview he was invited to so had all the required nominations and for some academies had multiple nominations. His medical waiver was...
DS just declined his appointment to WP as he finally received the USCGA appointment this afternoon and accepted that. That will free one up and if they are reassigning these, someone will be happy soon. He was torn in making this decision but feels that USCGA will be a better career opportunity...
Our DS just declined his appointment to USMA this evening 26 April. He is late in the process due to medical waivers and chose USCGA which he just got in the mail today. It is not hopeless if you haven't received a QNS letter. It is certainly a nail biter to not have news one way or the other...
Those still waiting. Hang in there. My DS is likely going to turn his WP Appointment back in as he is leaning towards USCGA. However, although we have heard he has the USCGA appointment, we have nothing on paper yet and as DS put it, "I'm not putting a match to any bridges until I'm sure I have...
Well, went away for the day, came back and there was the BFE from West Point in the mailbox. DS hasn't even seen it yet. So now he has some options. Very exciting. Years of hard work paying off. No matter which branch he chooses, I'm sure he will make a fine officer.
DS just got an email from USCGA medical review guy that he has been waivered for his two disqualifying issues. From my understanding, that will turn his "conditional appointment" into a full appointment. That moves him from plan G to plan C so he was a little lighter on his feet as he headed out...
DS received a letter written 19 Feb saying he was qualified academically and in physical aptitude but his medical status was "undetermined at this time". On 9 Apr, he received a letter saying he was issued a waiver for his two disqualifying conditions.
He has received no other correspondence...
DS received a waiver for a medical DQ. He received notice of the waiver less than a week ago even though he had taken the dodmerb exam last summer. He hasn't received a rejection letter and had a competitive double nomination from his MOC (listed for two slots the MOC had available). We realize...
Thanks for the helpful responses. This will be beneficial in the decision making process. We have been blundering through the application process and with no one in our immediate family having any military background it has been a steep learning curve. DS currently has an appointment to USNA and...
My ds is in the position of having to make a decision as he has multiple appointments. So as we try to come alongside him in the decision making process, I am seeking the answer to a question. What are the typical opportunities to work in one's major? eg: He is interested in electrical...
