Echoing bgo08, you only really want to submit an additional LOR from your coach if he can speak to a hardship you overcame or some exceptional contribution you made to the team or something else extraordinary that will give Admissions new information.

Definitely would recommend taking advantage of any opportunities for extra help!

I wish I had thought to send a gift to my DS's plebe. One thought for parents: maybe something for which your home state is known.
