Should I drop the ROTC program?

^^^ Times are tight and its tough enough to get into OTS without a smoke wavier. Zero chance, best bet is ROTC. Go talk to your command not about dropping the class but about your grade. Could be some office hours with the professor and tutoring you are missing.

Leaving during Plebe year? Advice from people who left during there plebe year...

I think you should stay till the end of the semester, not really gut it out because you can look online at schools you plan to attend, check in to majors, email schools. At the end of the semester you will be ready to start at the new school. Those Fall classes will be golden for you when...

Help me understand how prep school admissions works

Yes, those that need an extra year may get selected to prep. Admissions chooses who, and this depends on all the applications that they get to pick who goes.

    Sergeant Bergdah freed

Always have to bring them home. If they did something against the code, have to bring him through the process. Especially if he and his parents left a trail like emails, and journals. and talking to fellow soldiers. Long time in the brig. Didn't we give 6 additional Gitmo guys last summer for...

    preparing physically

^^^ See above. Do 25 laps, 3-4 days a week. Practice treading water. Swimming will help your running too if you add swimming to your weekly schedule. :thumb:

    preparing physically

Start swimming by going under the water (squatting), full head in the water and blow bubbles. Learn to tread water for 30 seconds work yourself up to 6 minutes (try doing it with your hands above water or your head). Do 4 laps nonstop. Practice jumping off the side (deep end), and off the...

Would it be better to do USMAPS or College w/ ROTC?

Congrats LBK! You'll do fine. Just be serious about learning and PT when you get there.

    ROTC Vs OCS

Try to get into ROTC. With cuts everything is bad, but it will be tougher with OCS than ROTC.

Would it be better to do USMAPS or College w/ ROTC?

LBK, I'm sure spud has a good understanding on what he read. If you took all those English classes and that great math class then you should be fine at prep school. Admissions is basically handing you a golden ticket to give you an extra year to get up and running rather rushing into your 1st...

    Question about medical condition.

    1. You're not a failure for dropping it (class). 2. I don't think you are on scholarship and you just signed up this semester for the class (right?), so basically they can't kick you out for just taking the class, finishing it for the semester and getting a grade in it! It will be an elective...

    HOBY ALA Scam?

USCGA, My parents too. I had and still do have a hard time understanding why I couldn't and others could go. Didn't apply or go to state either. 3 yrs after, it does feel good to see I made it without those things. Feels good looking back at the app I put together. At times now I still feel...

    Telling parents...

I'd go with throwing it at em at dinner or breakfast. You them at the table for a while. Definitely not a powerpoint for now. If you get in, from the start you will need to know how to talk something out. :shake: Break it to them that you are considering college after hs grad and among those...

    USNA Personal Statement Draft

Yes, they are great programs. My point was to reduce the stress from some that may read about the summer programs. People get bent out of shape because they think they have to attend/accepted to one of these programs to have a slight chance at getting accepted to an USNA. Some parents...

    USNA Personal Statement Draft

Gil, I like it. I'd go in and edit your 1st post, to delete it, so no one can copy it. Yeah, just put in something at beginning saying all had a hand...

    USNA Personal Statement Draft

    1. Most attendees of NASS and STEM don't go to an academy. 2. A lot of the applicants (that get accepted) never attended a summer program! So many other things one can do in summer besides NASS dude. Just because one goes to NASS doesn't mean they are the right fit for an acceptance letter.
