    Legal Help

I was told that there were six dismissed and one resigned. The same official implied that new sup wanted to send a message about sea year projects.

I hope it don't come to that, but that was my thinking, as well.

    Legal Help

I don't know. I didn't attend KP or an academy. Being an old, crusty enlisted sailor, I'm hoping they are trying to scare the crap out of him. But, you never know. There's new leadership and they could try to set an example with the current sea year failures. (The way he is talking, I would...

    Legal Help

I'm not sure, but I think electrical, humanities, and one other. From what he says there are 20+ (I think he said 24) that failed sea year projects and are in the same boat. His "faculty advisor" told him that defered is off the table because there were so many that failed 1-2 projects. So, at...

    Legal Help

Thanks. He has never failed any classes to this point and there were some mitigating circumstances that affected his sea year. We're hoping that is taken into account and he receives a setback or deferred grad. Thanks again.

Looks like we're going to need that same info. My DS had problems with his sea year projects and is facing disenrollment. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

    Alcohol- Should I be concerned??

There's underage drinking on and off every college campus in America, including service academies. If your plebe is drinking now, it probaby wasn't an activity picked up in the last three months. As parents, we worry about everything. Hopefully, your plebe learns moderation. While in uniform...

    Essay

Here's the advice I gave my son when he was in your position...1) Like KPEngineer said, be genuine. Don't write what you think people want to hear. That never works. 2) Everyone knows what KP or any other service academy can do for them, write what you can offer to the academy, what sets you...

    Chance of Prep?

My DS didn't find out until mid-April. He ended up being a sponsored prep at MMI (Alabama). Going to MMI, first, was a blessing...it made his plebe year a lot easier. Hang in there. I know the next couple of months will be painful, but it will be worth it. Good luck.

Are there any handy links for USMMA Appointees & Parents?

Here's a link that provides a lot of good info: https://www.usmmaaf.com/s/1175/hybrid/start.aspx Also, if you search Facebook, there are two pages already set up for Class of 2023. (One for parents and one for plebe candidates) Good luck.

    Female Mids

It's good advice for males and females. I gave my DS the same advice about "relations" on campus and with other Mids. All it does is open the possibility (more like probability) of problems. The problems might manifest in different ways (between the sexes), but they are still problems and...

    Best Degree for Intelligence

Looking at the AF Intel Officer page, it seems that Engine should be the track to go. Good luck. "Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: science, humanities, social sciences, structured analysis, engineering or mathematics Some level of foreign language study is highly desirable."

    Best Degree for Intelligence

Doc, We'll have to agree to disagree. Your "operational experience" is irrelevant. That's like me saying, "based on my operational experience, Navy Corpsman take vital signs and hand out Motrin...for the most part." Bottom line: Coinshot, do your research on how Army and Air Force intel...

    Best Degree for Intelligence

And...I just wanted the midshipman to understand that they won't be doing the forecasting. I just want him/her to make an informed decision based on facts not opinions.
