    One night in Annapolis

Galway Bay is underrated, they know how to make a mixed drink, great whiskey selection, not as many beers as some pubs but the ones they have I believe would meet all beer lovers expectations. They often have room when other restaurants downtown do not. We had brunch their with bloody Mary's...

Best major for Nuclear Power School

My DD 2019 grad was an English major, did a semester in Morocco, and is Nuke SWO, finished Power School last year and did well there. She did say it was one of the hardest things she has ever done academically but her husband who is also 2019 USNA Nuke SWO (but chem major) said the same thing!

    USNA SS Evaluation

I will say that my DD did NASS and must have had an exceptional performance as she did receive an LOA with handwritten note from I believe dean of admissions 8 years ago "I heard you did a bang up job at SS" were the exact words scrawled on her letter (it was an actual letter then), that was...

    Letters of Assurance.

Since you are a sophomore you have somewhat the advantage of time. First things first. Make sure your goal is to be a Naval Officer. Really investigate and think about the careers that are possible and try to understand the commitment. If your goal is to be a Naval Officer learn the other...

    Activities now.

A kid I know started zoom teaching art history online to kids in her community. She was so successful she had to add "employees" to help her.

Congratulations to the Class of 2023 - Officially "Plebes No More"!

My 2019 grad left like 7 of these t shirts in a bag in my garage when she went to her first duty.

    Grading for the CFA

Just my opinions as a parent of 2 Mids. I have always thought that the pull up section of the CFA separates a lot of applicants, especially the female ones. So anything you can use to separate yourself from other candidates in such a competitive process should be a focus! Both my DS and DD...

    Interested in the Naval Academy?

My mid wasn't that fazed either. He said it was like summer camp ....with yelling!

Reporting time on I-Day at USNA

I am impressed!! Worked out on I day!!. We live 2 hours away but with a 0600 report time we stayed at Gibson's Lodging right at gate one, "slept in" until 0500, got coffee and walked our DS to Alumni Hall for his reporting time.

Naval Academy Adds Cadence Push-Ups, Planks to Fitness Test

    2020 Summer Seminar

My son who is now a plebe applied to NASS with 1210 SAT and got in. Eventually had a 1540 by the time final application was sent in July. So not a disqualified by any means but keep striving for better! Best of luck

    Chemistry struggles

One thing that might be helpful is to study really hard for the AP test via self study as well, and crush it. My DD, a 2019 USNA grad, had a B in AP environmental studies but a 5 on the AP test. The message is either teacher is incredibly demanding or not great. A 5 on the AP is pretty...

Ever wonder how admissions board works? Take a look đź‘€

That is amazing. I always wanted to see what actually happens during the final decision process. I wonder if they still use the green/red blocks? This seems like at lest 8 plus years ago.

    Accommodations for I day

Forgot about that one...usually feel too expensive for us!

    Accommodations for I day

The early bird gets the worm....or in the case the most convenient lodging. Gibsons Lodging. Look it up. Directly adjacent to gate 1. And it has PARKING!!!!! Large parking area off the street. Rooms are cheap by Annapolis standards, simple, clean, cozy, old building. Some rooms share a...
