Not sure about all C-17 Pilots but, DS '11 has been stationed in Charleston now for 2 years. He has never been gone for more than 300 days. More like 100 or so days. He has been home more than he is gone. He also just graduated from SOLL Training (Special Ops Low Level) An elite program...

Hornet, Raimius,AFAMOM, Pima, are right on FWIW....Another "real" example of real life Air Force pilot - wheels up at 7:30pm be at the next Airbase - 1.5 hour flight. Stay there until they know if needed...come back...not sure what time. Sleep could be at a premium.

The tests never end. S is at IFS (Initial Flight Screening) and was very happy he passed his first test. Only one re-take then they "wash out." Some aspects of the tests are also verbatim. So knowledge tests are there for a reason...:eek3:

NO, It is not their responsibility. Being recognized is nice but stuff happens. Now that I have been through the whole thing from Prep School to Graduation,believe me when I say recognition at a High School awards banquet is nothing compared to what they will be recognized at the Academy...
