Marine Option - Summer Training (2/C)

The 2/C's from my previous unit are all mixed up. One going to CORTAMID, one going to Oman for Project GO, and one abstaining from cruise since the USMC didn't have anywhere for him to go. Seems like if you want to go amphib you can request it, but if you want to work at starbucks this summer...

    Jump School

Yep, i'll commission into active duty. In the past you'd be correct about the time prior to TBS. However, now upon commission Marine Officers out of NROTC get paid and stashed much like the Navy Ensigns out of NROTC at their host units or any unit or recruiting station within 50 miles of their...

    Jump School

Awesome thanks. It seems the 5-7 month wait before TBS would definitely be ample time for me to apply, I'll look into the resources you suggested. Much appreciated

    Jump School

All, I can't seem to find much info online about this so I'll take to the wisdom on here. I commission in May as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps and will likely be waiting until September (earliest) or January (more likely) for TBS. I was wanting to do Army jump school in between instead...

How are my chances for an NROTC-MO Scholarship?

Tough to say, I've responded a number of times to other posts stating my personal experience. I had a 23 ACT, 3.2 Highschool GPA but a 292 PFT and a boatload of extracurricular's and leadership positions paired with community service, and I still had to wait to get a 3 year. I've seen people...

    Marine Corps NROTC

Yup for MO NROTC scholarships there are 2 boards, one in November and then I believe in March.

    Marine Corps NROTC

I would say yes you're very competitive. However from my own experience and observing my classmates who have picked up a MO NROTC Scholarship after me, it seems that getting all of your paperwork in on time is about as much as an edge as any single person can have. I've seen kids with high...

    NROTC 4 yr?

JML, I was awarded a Marine option scholarship during Christmas break my Freshman year of college. That was still with my stats from high school, so yes still apply. Any time that your name is in the hat there's a chance for selection. So be sure to apply every semester you can. Best of luck

    NROTC 4 yr?

Nope, only if you apply after your first semester grades are officially posted. When I applied they used the same grades from High school. If you apply your 2nd semester of your Freshman year then your 1st semester grades will be used.

NROTC Marine Option - Am I competitive?

As long as you truly want to be a leader of Marines then yes you are extremely competitive. Make sure to let the officers know that you want to put your skills and demonstrated hard work to use to A) be a follower first and learn from your higher-ups in order to: B) better the midshipmen...

    AFPT and Marine Corps Test

taymcg12, Back in my Senior year of high school I got a 286 USMC PFT, no scholarship. Then after the 1st board I re-took it and got a 292, still no scholarship. Came to college as a college program mid, and got a 299 and was awarded a scholarship. PFT is very important but not the final say...

    Sunglasses

I'll be returning to freshman orientation this week as a 3/C marine option to help out. We'll be in desert marpats during a field evolution for the greater part of a day. My question is if rayban wayfarers are appropriate sunglasses. I don't own any Oakley military style ones and much prefer my...

NROTC 3 Year Scholarship (Fall 2015)

I think that until you hear a definite decline don't lose hope. A mid from my battalion just heard back today about the 3 year and was awarded one. I don't think they're completely done divvying out scholarships yet so that's a positive

Do your chances of getting a ROTC scholarship increase if you applied last year and didn't get it?

I'm not saying this is completely incorrect but I don't wholly agree with that. I applied with near identical stats my Freshman year of college as my Senior year of high school. Wasn't selected senior year, was selected freshman year. It can be a bit of a roll of the dice each round. Keep...
