West Point rated number one by Forbes as best University in America

College rankings are stupid. Enough said.

West Point rated number one by Forbes as best University in America

Sir, VMI is ranked as the third best PUBLIC liberal arts college. We aren't including the ridiculous PRIVATE liberal arts schools. VMI has an outstanding academic program from what I have heard. Alas, more reasons why college rankings are worthless and should not be considered when making...

West Point rated number one by Forbes as best University in America

Yea, number 14 on the liberal arts colleges list. I mentioned this in one of the previous threads (I may have said 15th). Also note that West Point is ranked #1 on the PUBLIC liberal arts colleges list. Almost every liberal arts college in America is PRIVATE. I'm not going to argue about...

    West Point and ROTC

Ah right. Sorry Just A Mom. I think that makes more sense.

West Point rated number one by Forbes as best University in America

jscam, the service academies may have been in the top 10 with Forbes, but they have never even came close to being in the top 10 with U.S. News and World Report or with Princeton Review. You cannot rely on ratings to judge what is the best college. It is too subjective and takes into account...

    West Point and ROTC

Just A Mom, please don't ever say WP appointments trump an ROTC scholarship. That is most certainly not true. Both pathways offer very unique experiences in their own way. It all depends on what you want to get out of the program. Although I am a cadet attending USMA, I still think that...

Forbes names West Point #1 American college!

Yes. I can be a darkcloud sometimes. I am against college rankings because I have seen way too many high school students applying to colleges based purely upon these somewhat biased and subjective methods of ranking. I couldn't believe it. One student at my school applied to Hamilton...

    USMA vs. Marines (USNA)

I'll replace the "real" statement with "guaranteed". That is what I meant to say.

    USMA vs. Marines (USNA)

I didn't mean it that way. I meant tackling a route where commissioning in the marines would be somewhat more of a guarantee. Doing MCROTC is a perfect example. If you go to USNA, you risk being a naval officer, which can be a huge disappointment if you really want to be a marine.

good rotc schools or to transfer to USNA?

This is coming from an Academy cadet. VMI and the Citadel are hard. "Sissies" don't go there.

    USMA vs. Marines (USNA)

Want to become a marine and KNOW you will be a marine upon finishing school after 4 years? Then don't go to USNA. Do it like a real marine and go through OCS or Platoon Leaders Course.

Forbes names West Point #1 American college!

I hate these surveys. I am a cadet currently attending USMA and I can tell you right now that you can't make college decisions based upon college rankings. Tons of schools throughout the nation, including the top ones refuse to even participate in these surveys because they make students apply...

    Special Forces Officer

I didn't read what anybody wrote after this so forgive me if someone mentioned it already. This is in fact not true. I can tell you right now that there are a lot more coming out of NROTC, OCS, and other enlisted to officer programs as a whole.

    ROTC and a military career

QUOTE "The Secretary of the Army shall ensure that a graduate of a senior military college who desires to serve as a commissioned officer on active duty upon graduation from the college, who is medically and physically qualified for active duty, and who is recommended for such duty by the...
