I believe you do have to be SMP and you get paid monthly by them to attend drills or if no drills close by then the school will have you do something in exchange.

My son feels the same way other then he can add Staff for the past 2 years JROTC which is a lot of responsibility and Drill Team. Plus 3 summers of leadership camp. Plus gets A's in his leadership classes, and graduating top 5% of his class. Don't give up! Sometimes it is just not meant...

From everything I have read even if you have a full scholarship at university you are not guaranteed AD, you are given an oml and they pick the top 50%, and ECP are also put in that equation. So if you chose ECP your getting a 4 year scholarship so pick a Major that you can do on the civilian...

I guess all the Scholarships have been announced....I am so grateful I pushed my son to start on Plan B and C and both are in the works, Plan B has been more then helpful and the school has heaps of scholarships they are helping him apply for, God gives us, what is best for us. I am grateful...

The big difference, a traditional ROTC Cadet (non-scholarship) can quit after their first 2 yrs, a ECP cadet is commissioned after their first 2 years (which are their MSIII and MSIV years). We have spoken to a couple of ECP that have gone active duty that have very similar stats to traditional...
