    Community Service

Karebear some may disagree with me on this but the number of hours someone does doing community service is not really valuable for this short of an application. More important is why you volunteered and what your service did to better the community and yourself. The only reference to a number...

    7th semester grades requested

Pete I would not read too much into it at this point. Last year when DS contacted admissions to send in additional information they replied back that they did not need anymore information on him and today he is a plebe in the class of 2020. So you never know until you know. One interesting...

    Dropped out of AP

I am not sure where you found this information but I can tell you that it is false. If you look at the Naval Academy website you can find this. I can also validate that as of the Class of 2020 they are taking AP and College credits into consideration. DS is currently, a plebe that came out of...

    Arizona, anyone?

First everyone's interviews are different. It has been a while but he did both his Representative (Salmon) and McCain's over the phone due to being on his CVW and they were each about 30 minutes. Flake's interview was in person and quicker more like 15-20 minutes.

    Arizona, anyone?

Last year DS was notified on the 2nd and 3rd of November. Then his interviews were on the 14th (McCain) and 21st(Flake). One side note is that we learned that Flake does not duplicate nominations so if your DD has one from any other source Flake will not give her one.

    BMU bummer

I do not agree with (2). We were advised to keep DS on our medical insurance just in case. I cannot find where I received that information from quickly while I was reading this but, my understanding was that he was not in the military and fully covered in the case of a major medical issue...

Is it worth it to take my CFA again?

The short answer is that you should be doing everything that you can to improve your application and no one really knows what is best for you to work on or not. Now having said that I am assuming that you passed the CFA during Summer Seminar. If so, then in my opinion unless everything else...

    so. much. stress. and. work.

I cannot tell you what is best for you but I can explain what DS did. At your phase in the process he worked to further his potential as a USNA candidate. Mainly by constantly striving to better himself and become the best all around candidate he could be. This included everything from...

    Where's Waldo plebe style

Later this month DS will be reporting on I-Day and it will be time for my wife and I to land the helicopter. Living on the west coast, we will not have many opportunities each year to travel out to see him so I am wondering what are typically the best places for us to play where is our plebe...

    Almost done?

DS received his LOA September 4, 2015 which I think was the first set of LOAs given out for Class of 2020. His application was completed by August 1st which was our goal. I do not think that showing stats etc. is a good policy as I think each candidate is unique and is considered individually...

How long to get a masters with validation?

NavyHoops do you know anything about the option to get a Masters from MIT? I know it is possible but I was not sure how it works and just how rare it is, also if it was only limited to certain degree paths.

Class of 2020 USNA Appointment Thread

There is no way to know which appointment a candidate is linked too. DS had an LOA and received a nomination from Salmon and McCain (Flake will not give a nomination to someone who has one from another source). He could be linked with someone altogether differently and we would never know.

    New here: sports and homeschooling?

Martial Arts can provide wonderful meaningful leadership experience. It is common practice in most Dojos that the higher belts teach the lower belts. After all the best way to learn is to teach someone else. This occurred even more when DS became a black belt. He now teaches entire classes of...

    2020 Hopefuls

keegs086 the answer to your question is that there is no way to know. The process for reviewing applicants is speculated on by everyone and the people who truly know cannot say anything on this board or any other. The best you can do is work to continue to improve your package, complete your...
