C/O 2028 Wait List: The Wait Listed Bunch

USNA traditionally has a high yield. Normally the wait list is 100. I have seen years that zero have come off the list, and some years closer to 20 and anything in between. As the final puzzle pieces are determined (waivers resolved, declines, cold feet), the yield will become clearer. As it...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

VP or Supt’s noms. They are rare, like unicorns, but we know at least 5 VP noms occur each year. I think this scenario is rare. I would think NAPS or foundation is more likely.

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

You may hear something today or you may not. It tells me they are still in the hunt for something, even without a MOC nom. That could result in a foundation, NAPS or direct appointment. It could also mean a TWE. The thing with a TWE, it’s hard to know if someone was the last cut and were that...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Most hear by 4/15. We have said it over and over. There are plenty who hear after 4/15 due to wait list, NAPS and foundation. In some ways priors have less to coordinate. Yes, orders and lots of things others don’t have. But directs are trying to coordinate dorms, payments for hold spots...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

BGOs would only get that kind of info if their AC passes it on. Mine has been sending us updates but at this point unless they come daily, even then they are out dated as fast as things move this time of year. We can’t see that kind of info in the system, only the AC could.

Question About Shoes for Working Out

Not sure on usage for Plebe Summer, but after PS it shouldn’t be an issue. Be prepared to wear non-barefoot type of shoes for PS.

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Who actually stays and goes is a whole different debate. It’s a total gamble. A lot has to do with getting your preference. Family dynamics and other factors. Of my room mates, I was the one predicted to stay a career. Well multiple combat tours did its thing to me and I was done. The one we...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

One thing I have learned over the decades being involved in this… 17-18 year olds why are all over. Many give all the right answers, but it has nothing behind it. Heck I was one of those. I was excited to serve, but at 17, I really had so clue. I did my research and wanted to serve. I knew a guy...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

I only applied to USNA and NROTC. I was a basketball recruit for many schools. Some of those schools had NROTC, most did not. Ivies did not. Some schools have good relationships with sports and ROTC, many do not. One or the other gets a second seat. My back up was an Ivy with OCS after. I stated...

    USNA course validation after NAPs

It doesn’t expire. There is a validation matrix on the USNa website. Yes, you can validate classes coming from NAPS. There are various levels of courses at NAPS. They will place you in these appropriately. Then the same thing will happen at USNA.

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

BGOs rank every candidate. It’s part of our assessment. There is also a checks and balance for a very high or very low rating by the Area Coordinator. Every BGO writes their own review within the outline given. I generally write mine and then let it sit for a few days before re-read and submit...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

If they had a nom, they were placed on the national wait list. It means they didn’t fall within the top 150. I have seen 35 ACTs and 1580 SATs get the TWE. It’s more than academics. Although they play a large role, if someone is a walking calculator and Wikipedia, that does not always ewuate to...

    Can NAPS offer be updated

Don’t plan on it changing. The extra you have can be sent in, but honestly I don’t see it changing the outcome. Something on your resume doesn’t meet the criteria they are looking for to qualify you. NAPS is a great place to start for USNA and will shore up any gaps you have.

    Circumstances / Guidance

Happens every year. Every single year USNA states 4/15. Some years we see that extend a few days for some candidates. I know it’s published out there somewhere the NROTC board schedule. A quick google search says 8-12 April is the last one. So the last one should release shortly after. So you...
