    Avg Flight Hours Per Month?

It really depends on what aircraft and mission. It could be 5 or it could be 30+. I think my personal low was a little less than 200/yr, and high has been around 450/yr. How that rolls out also depends on if you are in a plane that does 15hr missions or 1.3s.

Should I buzz myself before BCT?

    It doesn't matter.

Seriously struggling with decision to accept appointment

Imagine yourself in 10 years. What KIND of things would you be doing? (Not specifics, because those are often not what we imagine them to be.). Does your ideal future include things like leadership, tactical flying, combat, or lots of organizing for those things? If not, becoming an AF pilot...

Terrified of getting kicked out due to PEA

Well, first what are your physical strengths and weaknesses? How can you improve on both? It sounds like running is really lowering your scores. Have you talked with a running coach? (Someone who actually understands the science on improvement in running form and endurance?). You mentioned...

USAFA graduates and parents of graduates, how did it turn out?

I've had an interesting and boring time. Definitely more interesting than many people's experiences (including a couple times I almost hurt/killed myself by accident and also some times I marveled at how cool my life was), but also much less interesting than the people who get movies made about...

The 2nd best student has to go somewhere... ;) (Says the Fourth Assignment IP...is that still "FAIP"?)

    Active duty experience

If flying is your goal, USAFA sends a large percentage of each class to pilot training. That's a logical choice. AFROTC sends large numbers as well, but the percentage of cadets going to UPT is a bit less. USNA also sends a large number to aviation, so that would be a good alternative. Army...

Container Ship Strikes Scott Key Bridge in MD

From the pics I saw, it looked like the ship missed the dolphins. Also, that ship can be 100k+ tons, and was moving at just under 9kts....that's a lot of energy.

    Current State of the Academy

On the upside of that nightmare, cadets may learn electronic signature management better than the current generation of officers...

    Standards in Free Fall

I see you are upholding at least part of the fighter pilot image. Having read a few pages of the science as well, it turns out that fear, sarcasm, and ridicule might not the the best way to teach (or communicate in online forums). Though, you do seem to be well-versed in those techniques...

    What...That's a Federal Crime??

The ATF really likes enforcing the NFA...to the extent they went after guys who printed the outline of a machine gun part on aluminum cards. Their own experts had unreliable results cutting out the cards (with multiple hours of work in each attempt)...still got multi-decade sentences against...

    Current State of the Academy

In general terms, they are presenting frustration that the officer leadership has greatly restricted the intensity of training and forbid much of it unless cadets are under direct supervision (while also talking about how cadets need to be leaders in their own training). As for my opinion...

    I can't stand this forum

Some good rules: Don't disrespect your elders. They have seen more than you Don't disregard your juniors. They may have new insights. Offer your opinion in good faith. Don't take things personally.

I'm of the opinion that any Recognition ROE that prohibits inducing stress should be aired to the grad community. Pushing personal limits is the point...

Air Force SMP (I need some help)

What is your end goal? Enlisting is a big commitment that doesn't necessarily provide the best past to commissioning. In general, someone who enlists then does ROTC will add several years to their path. It's not always a bad way to go, but it does introduce competing requirements.
