    Food Poisioning at USAFA?

Plus it sounds like (from my son's letter home) that basics got sick at Jacks. So unless all the affected active duty were down there, maybe a virus.

Procedure for medical care when home on leave.

Our son is is still on our medical coverage and we did not plan to remove him. Is there any reason he would be REQUIRED to go to a military clinic for care while home? Can he still go see his regular dermatologist/eye doctor/dentist for normal care?

    Checking out USAFA

When we were out last summer, we were able to access the airfield, stadium, etc. But because of heightened security (we were told it's because of the demise of OBL) tourists could only access the Chapel area, visitor's center and B-52 when we were last there. They have guards on the roads...

    USAFA Uniform Question?

Thanks for the info. It dawned on me (finally) that my cadet's class is not the first to go through this and that the COS area has probably seen it all before!

    USAFA Uniform Question?

Sorry, didn't mean to come across as arguing! Are you talking about golfing at the Academy course? I am referring to a private course elsewhere--wondering if the private course would accept a player without a collared shirt. I guess anywhere in the area they are familiar with cadets...

    USAFA Uniform Question?

But since golf requires a collared shirt and nice shorts, belt, etc., PT clothes won't work. I can't imagine golf is not allowed--so I figure the polo and shorts is "special required attire" not unlike a ski parka and pants?

    USAFA Uniform Question?

So I understand that events requiring special clothing will not require a uniform. What about golf? Pretty impractical to play in blues--so would son be able to play with Dad over Parents' Weekend wearing a polo and shorts? Would he need to wear a uniform to the course?

    Flight time after Acceptance Day

I am trying to plan a flight home after the A-Day parade and visit with our hopefully-to-be-cadet. What time do you estimate we will be leaving the Academy. How long is the drive to the COS airport?

    A Few Questions...

Another question: After the swearing-in the day after I-Day, what time is it reasonable to expect to leave the Academy (parents, of course, don't think son is going anywhere!) I'm trying to firm up airline reservations.

    moving on to Prep?

My son was a Falcon this year. The letter came out about a week after the TWE. It wouldn't hurt to let your AOL know that you are interested in the program if it is available to you. Good luck!

    Test Scores

And remember that you are competing with others on your nomination slate, not the entire pool. That makes a big difference. My son did not get in this year with strong scores and decent grades, because he was not the academy's first choice of the 10 on the nomination slate. (He is going...

    Falcon Foundation

If you are going to Northwestern, they will send you a couple of forms to fill out. Mrs. Durbeck is a wealth of information--do call her if you are going there.

    Foundation?

Just a bit of clarification. At least for the Air Force Falcon Foundation, the students selected are generally not recruited athletes. They are applicants in the category of "qualified, no vacancy", usually get the twe before being selected for the Foundation.
  15. S

    status change?

Son received twe, then Falcon Foundation. Online still says candidate. Wonder if all "qualified, no vacancy" kids stay candidate till I day?
