    SSOP then NROTC

On caveat. Maritime only subsidizes room and board for 4-year scholarships.

Yes you can apply for SSOP and compete for a side load scholarship.

I will see if I can figure out how to send you a PM to provide info so your son can contact DD. She will be a good source of advice. Never too soon to start training for PFT!

    Accessions after ECP

QA1517, thanks for your thoughtful reply. I'm hoping that you are right re: the Army continuing to allow ECP's to compete for AD. The possibility of AD was certainly one factor in my son's decision to go the ECP route. It would be a shame if the AD option were denied after all the...

    Accessions after ECP

Since DS has only been under scholarship for two academic quarters I wonder if he can drop the GRFD scholarship, repay the tuition and continue on as a non scholarship ECP. If i'm not mistaken my DS's school pays for room and board for non scholarship ECPs. I think all ECPs also get the $10k...

MSI , stipend and CIET pay

We drove to Knox to attend LTC graduation and drove DS home to upstate NY. DS was reimbursed for milage. I didn't see a dime

    Accessions after ECP

My son is an MSIII ECP at a Jr. Military College. The scuttlebut is that the ECP cadets will no longer have the option of competing for active duty. I googled a bit and found this line in the Wiki ECP article: "as of 2014 the option for contracted ECP cadets to compete for active duty is...

    SUNY Maritime College

My DD got through the her first semester this fall participating in NROTC and varsity soccer. This required carrying 21 credits including the required naval science course + lab. Very rigorous. She loves Maritime. If anything the participation on the team helped. She's surrounded by...

One can participate in the SSOP to pursue a navel reserve commission. I believe MMA also has an Army ROTC program (cross town with BU).

Kings Point does not offer the major DD is pursuing (marine environmental science).

    Which is better?

Maritime is a State University of New York college.

DD is now a Mug, starting on the soccer team and doing the NROTC Strategic Sealift Officer Program. So far so good.

    Reserve options

The exception being the Strategic Sealift Officer Program at the maritime academies. SSOs are commissioned into the Navy Reserve.
