    Religion and Missile Ops

It's true, I have a hard time being moral without God. Sometimes I wonder why I'm not killing people, then I remember it's because of my good Judeo-Christian socialization that reminded me people are human beings. /Snark off. As for the actual topic of conversation, teaching Christian...

    USNA to Air Force?

I vaguely recall people only being able to cross commission for a very limited list of reasons, and "I'd rather be an Air Force pilot than a Naval Aviator" was not one of them. The obvious solution: Fly Navy. Other than that, I would imagine your company officer has more information than an...

    Navy Vs. Air Force

Me. Also lots of my friends and fellow aviators. Some good gouge for you: don't make sweeping statements when you don't know anything about the topic.

    Weight Issue?

HB, "conform to weight standards" always means either within height/weight, or if outside height/weight, within the body fat percentage. Body fat is measured using the neck/waist measurement system - you can look up the numbers on that, but I wouldn't worry about it. I would not stress the...

    Golf Courses Near NA

Renditions - a bit overpriced, but fun. For some reason the conditions were also varying wildly, but the staff was wonderful and when its in good condition, it's a lot of fun. I played at south river a lot. Owned by the same guys as Queenstown Harbor. Best course though is the NA course...

    Are YOU ready?

Dude, don't stress it and just try and enjoy your last few months. You'll have nine years to go overboard.

    Question to Pilots

Find a runway? Prefer not to use the things.

    Question to Pilots

    I agree, fly Navy instead.

    2 for 7 - Not actually 2yrs for 7yrs anymore

Yes, this is correct. If you choose pilot, your clock starts when you earn wings. In general, this means your commitment is up somewhere between 9-11 years after graduation depending on your luck and pipeline.

    2 for 7 - Not actually 2yrs for 7yrs anymore

Aviators have to do 8 years after winging, all platforms. I think the marines have different lengths for different platforms.

    2 for 7 - Not actually 2yrs for 7yrs anymore

Don't call, let your son deal with it himself, he's a big boy now.

    Still have fun?

If I remember correctly you could fry people for, among other things, "hijinks," defined in the dictionary as "lively enjoyment." So no, apparently Midregs disallows fun.

    Private Pilot's License

PPL isn't a bad thing to have if you want to go tool around in a Cessna, but frankly, it buys you about five minutes of comfort in flight training (Caveat: there may be some massive difference between UPT and Navy primary I'm missing here, but I seriously doubt it). At least in the Navy, the...

Air Force vs. Naval Aviation: My Thoughts

Well that got out of hand. To get back to the original thread, you're asking the wrong questions. Think about the culture of the services - you'll spend more time around the people than in the air. Figure out in which service your backup options are better in - there's a lot of things that...

Air Force vs. Naval Aviation: My Thoughts

Almost every navy stud you can find will tell you this is bad, bad gouge. Mongo basically covered it, but the general consensus was always that navy training treated you more like a big boy or girl. But I'm sure air force types will disagree. Either way, you'll all come to your senses and...
