    R Day

Just finished watching my DD's R Day Oath Ceremony. What a great event. The weather cooperated and the New Cadets looked fabulous. 2019 candidates - good luck as you strive to be here next year.

    'C' in an AP Class

Grades My DD had more than one C. I think USMA looks for consistency and the level of the classes.

    Enlisting before entering an academy

Enlisting If you do that - be prepared to serve your enlistment if you don't get in to an Academy. If you at least get Basic Training under your belt, I think you qualify for one of the 85 active duty slots. The standards are lower that route.

    What is This $h*@?

Tests It all depends. Look to make yourself as competitive as possible. If you get X ACT scores it will be better than X - 2. Depends on your competition and how you stack up.

    What is This $h*@?

Really? You may want to start with a little more respect and decorum. I was the son of a fruit picker and took a three year route to get into USMA. I was by your definition a loser in high school. Bad form young person. Don't bemoan your circumstances. Do something about it. Make sure you do...

    USMAPS and EIB

EIB Don't think you can compete for the EIB unless your assigned or maybe attached to an Infantry Brigade or lower. The EIB Program Manager's email is : shane.hancock.mil@mail.mil or call (706) 604-5170 - ask him/her. http://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/EIB/index.html

    Tattoo Q

Yep Yep. I make/made decisions every day for a variety of reasons. I didn't like the attitude, I liked someone's haircut. etc If all else equal, seems good enough reason. It's not the body art. It's the thought process. I question someone's maturity and decision making ability if they get...

    Tattoo Q

Tats If USMA did not know about and accept the tattoo, I would hope the CC would be sent home . If RA, then back to the force or ETS depending on how much time left on enlistment contract. I am vehemently opposed to ANY tattoos. If I have two candidates, for a position, and one has tattoos and...

    Validation Tests During Beast

Not So Fast I beg to differ on the quoted areas. Your class rank does have an impact on your branch and first assignment choice. How you do on that and subsequent assignments determines your success in the Army. Class rank is irrelevant once you show up. The only way it may impact you is if...

    Admissions

Class Stats West Point is limited to 4,400 cadets enrolled. Generally, they have slots for @1200 incoming Plebes. The prepsters part? I saw a posting (somewhere) that said over 220 women had been appointed and they were still expecting @35 female prepsters. That tells me that many of the male...

    Admissions

Class Size My guess is 201 left for a class size of 1200. Last year it was 1183. I think the majority of the remaining slots are for USMAPS.

    Regarding SLE 2014

Swap Doesn't hurt to ask if anyone on here would want Week 2 instead of 1. If you could go to Admissions with a swap name - might help.

Chances of admission after not being selected for SLE?

Positives I agree with Eaglescout. Lots of good reasons to go to SLE. If it does not interfere with B/G State then go! However, if you don't get a SLE slot - don't sweat it. If someone REALLY wants to go to an Academy (and they at least meet the minimum academic requirements) I think there is...
