    Considerig dropping army rotc

Don't listen to this guy, OP. You did not "take away" a scholarship from anyone else. ROTC and the military is not for everyone... Hell, it's not even for most. It's an incredibly big decision and one that you should not take lightly. However if you are not 100% into it, dropping it may be the...

    AROTC - National Guard/Reserve commitment?

I apologise in advance if this has already been asked/answered. For AROTC cadets who opt to branch into the Guard/Reserves (and are on a national scholarship), how long is their minimum commitment? I keep hearing mixed answers. I know active duty is 4 years active, 4 years IRR. Is it 6 years in...

    Approved Boots

If you haven't gone out and bought boots yet, I HIGHLY recommend Blackhawk boots.... extremely comfortable and held up great all year for me.

    Transferring Schools

I just finished my freshman (MS1) year at an out of state school. I hated everything about the school. I tried to stay positive throughout the year, but honestly it was just a terrible experience and I'm dead set on transferring (probably 2nd semester this coming school year). However, I am on a...

    Army ROTC service obligation?

This is in regards to scholarship winners. I know active duty commitment IS 8 years: 4 years active, 4 years IRR. What is it for cadets who go Guard or Reserves? Is it 8 years with no IRR?

    AROTC Scholarship Winner Letter

Took nearly 2 weeks for me to get my letter last spring

    Preparing for AROTC Fall 2014

Besides working out, practice going to bed early and waking up at the crack of dawn over the summer. I'm a natural night owl (aka I enjoy staying up until 4am and sleeping in until noon), and I've found that the hardest part of ROTC has been adjusting to waking up so early. Here at school, I try...

    Doesn't even make sense...

I wouldn't get too discouraged yet. With stats like that, I think you have a great shot at the 3rd board. I remember the feeling last year the morning they posted results of the 2nd board and I saw I hadn't gotten anything.... It was so disappointing. I ended up getting a 3 year on the 3rd...

    Dropping AROTC on scholarship

You might have already said this (I didn't read through all 4 pages) but I'm just wondering, what is your major, Headstrong?

    best schools for ROTC scholarships

Marquette gives each ROTC kid on scholarship $28,000 (7k a year) for living expenses, food, etc. I got an AROTC offer to go to Marquette.... and yet decided say no, and accepted the scholarship to another school. To this day, my biggest regret was turning down Marquette. I still question...

Why ROTC is awesome (even though now I can't do it)

There is no way ee actually enjoys early morning PT lol?!

    Arotc and Highschool Strength

I had a 3.2 when I submitted my application and I got a 3 year scholarship. My ACT was 27, but I had a great interview, high PT test score and very strong extra curriculars. So while academics do play a large role, they definitely put a lot of weight on the non academic categories too...

What are my honest chances of getting any type of Army ROTC Scholarship

I had a very, very similar resume as yours (I was also 4 years varsity track). My GPA was a little higher, ACT was 27 and my PT was better... but you had more leadership than me. I ended up getting a 3 year AD on the final board. I was pretty borderline, and I think you will be too. I think...

WHat are my honest chances for AROTC?

We had a very similar resume and I got a 3 year. I'd say your chances of getting a scholarship are pretty good

    AROTC School Choices

If he gets the scholarship to A&M, encourage him to go there instead. I'm from Illinois too, and have a ton of friends at UofI and I was thissss close to attending there myself. But I thank god daily that I didn't. I've heard almost nothing but bad things from my friends who are there (although...
