    Rumor of ROTC cuts?

Yes, the concerned cadet was speaking about "potential cuts" which would involve AROTC cadets currently on AROTC scholarship; however, let me remind you that the information I got was second hand and I can't quote a direct source. I brought it to this forum hoping someone could speak to the...

    Rumor of ROTC cuts?

Warning: This is unsubstantiated information and quite possibly bad scuttlebutt. I recently heard from a current Army ROTC cadet at VT that sequestration issues may result in the Corps of Cadets cutting the bottom 10% of the current cadets on scholarship. This young man was sufficiently...

    STP at VMI

My DS is a fourth class cadet (2016) and took calc in STP, however, it seems those BRs who took the history course were the ones dancing for joy later. The history class proved to be a real bugger for many rats who took it during the ratline and the hostry final exam was scheduled as the FINAL...

    Vmi flat sheets

Wal-mart has a trunk on wheels. It is used by many rats and cadets. From what I hear, it also meets flight regulations as luggage so it is a good option for out-of-state rats/cadets. It can be ordered on-line and delivered to your local Wal-Mart if they don't have any in stock.

    NROTC File Taxes?

Hello, my DS is in his first year of his 4-yr NROTC scholarship, having started college fall 2012. I'm embarrassed to ask this question but... does he need to file a tax return because of the scholarship? Other than the scholarship, he has no other source of income and he is still my...

    Pay phone at VMI?

Yep, I get short messages too and it is rather frustrating to wait with baited breath ALL day and then receive a few lines. I'm certain the girlfriend gets a WHOLE PARAGRAPH! But, as you said, I am thrilled nonetheless with my few short lines!

    New Market Oath for VMI

FYI: I sent an email asking for clarification from Cadet Life and administration and they report back that rats can use permits Saturday and Sunday!

    New Market Oath for VMI

Yes, you can go to dinner with a BR and family. I believe all rats have to fill out a permit. Speak with your dyke to get the information.

    New Market Oath for VMI

Are rats allowed to use a visit with family permit the Saturday evening PRIOR to New Market? The Superintendent's Update (July 2012, p. 2) says a Visit with Family Permit will be in effect this weekend (italics added for emphasis), however the VMI website only mentions being able to take rats...

DS just called from St. Pat's! Rat Crucible is later today and later this evening they should have expect to have permission to use their computers. They expect to meet their dykes this evening, or tomorrow, along with preparations for class. Shopping for books tomorrow. F Troop has lost 3...

    VMI matriculation & next steps.

I'm sorry you haven't heard from your DS! Will he be attending a church service this morning? If so, most churches provide cell phones for the rats to make a brief call home. If he doesn't have a home church selected, encourage him to speak with his brother rats and make plans for next...

Just received an email from DS' academic advisor stating that DS is in good spirits and doing well. Kind academic advisor attached photo of the bald rat too!

    VMI matriculation & next steps.

DS just called! He says he would summarize Hell Week as "getting yelled at a lot". He reports that physically he isn't slammed and his 4-years in NJROTC prepared him well. Because NJROTC taught him a lot of formation/marching & such, he is able to fly below the radar and he is NOT on the...
