Do not give up hope. The majority of the Class of 2017 found out from the portal on March 18th last year. But, as an example, one of my cadet's squad mates found out two weeks before he had to leave for BCT. Expect the best news, plan for the rest.

My cadet brought cleats and did use them during BCT. Do not purchase football cleats. Purchase soccer cleats. Football cleats have the extra cleat on the toe. I believe they are not allowed to be used for intramural sports.

The Class of 2017 just finished their march up the "Rock." They will be completing Recognition with their "Prop and Wing" ceremony shortly. This is a very happy time, as they will no longer be doolies.

Last year things showed missing when they actually were not missing. It takes time for the system to be updated.

Navy Federal? My son has had a Navy Federal account since he was born. Does anyone know if he'll have the opportunity to switch his direct deposit to his NF account instead of the cadet bank?

Just as a reminder that entrance into the summer program doesn't mean a whole lot: Son made it into NASS, but did not receive an appointment to USNA. He didn't make it into the USAFA's summer program, but was given an appointment to the class of 2017. It might sting right now, but...

We are a Navy family (four generations). My husband jokes that it's because our youngest was born on an Air Force based that he always wanted to go AF instead. He said it's like a salmon swimming upstream to where they were born. I guess I'll have to get used to the AF way of doing things...

My son's MOC did not notify him. He received his appointment letter and a congratulations letter from our MOC on the same day his portal changed.
