    Water Proof Boots

The Cadre told DS to use the issue boots during the water course and save the one he wore (and broken in) during I-Day for the rest of Jacks Valley.

    iPad size

They will need it after A-Day or when class starts in August. By then they will have their Military ID and can therefore buy these at the Exchange at a significant discount when the Exchange has a sale on the item. Otherwise the Exchange is like Costco without the Tax. Keep an eye out for...

    iPad size

My DS has the 11" Pro, Wifi. The reason we picked the Pro is because you will have a better experience (Screen Refresh Rate) using it with the Apple Pencil.

    Question for current USAFA cadets

Mach01 and Spirit Committee Liaison is right. My 2027 was issued the 14" HP laptop during BCT. Immediately after BCT, bought an 11" Ipad for note taking. Funny thing is that he never used an Ipad in high school for doing that so that's what he carries with him to class. Also got a bigger...

    Danner - Tachyon v Rivot

The heavier boots are for rucking and deployment, they have more ankle supports. However for daily wear, go for the lighter ones. My DS hasn't worn his issued boots since BCT and that is for one occasion only.

Appointee Handbook 2028 Question - Face Masks

For my CL27 DS, we just have him bring a couple with him.

    Danner - Tachyon v Rivot

My DS wore his Nike SFB Gen 2 throughout BCT except 1 day where they have to get wet. The idea is for them to have something dry to switch out just in case it didn't dry in time.

Question about packing list and boots?

My DS CL27 got Nike SFB Gen 2 and he loves it. It is light and good for daily wear. The issued boots are heavy and the Cadre told my son to use them at Jack's since he will get wet. Since space is limited in the backpack, bring only travel pack size toiletries. There's a cadet store at...

    USAFAPS Acceptance

I heard they are basically receiving E1 pay which is a lot more than the cadets.

    Only one letter of recommendation

The three letters of evaluation came from the school teachers and the two letters of recommendation are from people that knows you personally such as club coaches, church bishops and etc.

You are absolutely correct, your selected major have nothing to do with being selected for a pilot slot. Knowing that there's a shortage of pilot due to all the post that I've seen so far, I was just trying to say that DS has a chance to be one and I'm disappointed that he told me from the get...

    Deferment?

There are 21 LDS in the Class of 27 and majority of the males are leaving for their mission after their first year according to my DS. During church on Parents Weekend, they have a separate meeting after Sacrament for those that are thinking of going. So to answer your question, most of them...

Another question re: "decision is ready" letter...

Even though that is not a LOA, it still shows that you have caught the eye of the academy and they are interested based on everything they have seen so far. You need to get that one of the ten nomination spot and the rest is up to the academy for appointment.

    Falcon Football = 8-0. Next up….. Army

I agree. Those are rivalry games and you can throw out the current win loss record. If AF win this one, I'm really afraid of the Boise State game at the end of the season.

I wanted to fly and I didn't have the opportunity and my DS (CL 27) have a 50/50 chance instead chose to double major in Computer Science and Cyber. There's a shortage of pilots and I was hoping he will change his mind after the flight simulation class but nope, that didn't help. I guess I...
