Not to mention the fact that if you're HIGHLY competitive they may find you a nomination anyway (VP, Superintendent, etc.) My two cents is that it won't take anything but your time, which you'll probably have alot of over the holidays, so why not finish it?

I don't think they make a waitlist until after the mass-mailing in March. That doesn't mean that they don't have a ranked "list" of all applicants, but they don't have a "waitlist" until after they've made all the offers of admission to people they want.

It is important to remember, that even with an LOA, an appointment is not a complete certainty, only very, very, very likely. If it's a nomination-contingent LOA, then it's probably a certainty for practical purposes, but if you're waiting for medical or physical qualification, there is still...

And keep in mind...thus far, we've only heard of 1 person getting them. They seem to be rare, even more so than for the other 3 academies that send out LOAs

For the essays...correct. As far as the activities go...I'm not sure.

I fail to see how it's immoral to offer candidates LOAs....maybe it's just me. Academies aren't like your state universities...they don't offer admission just for filling out the forms...

I had a similar interview, believe the title was "Field Diversity Officer" or something like that. I believe that it does go into your application file, as she mentioned something about doing a write-up on me. So, it is at least somewhat important.

I would think the difficulty is dependent upon the quality of the schools in your district, considering that all districts have the same population. Also consider the political leanings of the district. I would assume that San Fransisco is not very competitive, while a district in say, rural...
