    Re Applicant

Many questions for reapplicant. He has been notified he is highly qualified and needs to contact admissions. Sounds promising but we wont get our hopes up again this year. Question is if he does get accepted, will he repeat his first year ? He is already very far ahead academically and is...

Didn't get appointed. What are the next "best steps"

My son did not get an appointment this year. He will be attending SUNY Maritime in their engineering program and in the regiment of cadets. He has expressed interest in applying again for the USCGA. My question is if he does eventually get an appointment, how will he be handled academically...

Any other 2016 USCGA hopefuls out there who are still waiting?

Got the TWE today.......................:frown: So glad the wait is over. The USCGA's loss is SUNY Maritime's gain!! In four short years he WILL be a USCG Officer! Good Luck to the rest of you waiting!!

Any other 2016 USCGA hopefuls out there who are still waiting?

Still waiting here too. I HOPE no news is good news. Got the "false" TWE over four weeks ago that said app was going for review. This is the hardest thing we have ever been through. He wants it (and deserves it) so badly. Good Luck Everyone!!

    Min Age to Commission?

My son is a USCGA hopeful and also has many plan B's. He will be 20 1/2 when he graduates academy/college. I keep seeing the minimum age as 21. Are waivers common for this or does he have to hang out until he turns 21 to be commissioned?

    ROTC Scholarships & USCG

I did read that but I can't find anywhere specifically that students have used NROTC scholarship money and then have been commissioned into USCG. I know he can be in the NROTC program and get commissioned but can he use the Navy's money to be in the Coast Guard?

    ROTC Scholarships & USCG

This may be a dumb question so bear with me. My son wants to be a USCG officer - specifically a helicopter pilot. He has applied to the USCGA and we feel he is competitive and we are awaiting (breathlessly) an answer. He also applied for a NROTC scholarship and to five schools that have...

    Reapplicant/DoDMERB/Concorde

Not sure? My son got the DodMerb forms and he has scheduled his appointments. Is there any way of knowing if they were initiated by NROTC scholarship or USCGA (since he has applied for both)? Just wondering if it was a "good" sign from the USCGA that he is being considered.

Important! Class of 2016 to be extremely competitive

Son of CG vet Can anyone tell me how much clout being the son of a 20+ year Coast Guard member holds? With the competition being so tough this year, he needs all the edge he can get! BTW, he is at the USCGA today and tomorrow for his beansprout experience!!
