My room and board at Syracuse are all taken care of. When you get awarded a scholarship, SU is given up to $14xxx a year for room and board. If you pay less than that (living in a frat house for example) then you can pocket the difference in your bank account.

For those wondering about 2nd brigade, I got awarded a 2.5y in the reserve (what I wanted). I was the only cadet awarded a scholarship in the brigade for my battalion (not talking about incoming HS kids). I got notified really fast. Hard work finally pays off.

If you have no choice, then you have no choice :) It not that bad neither, the MS3&4 are nice guys and you have a cool office. But be prepared to wake up early for the record pt test..

Just FYI, Oswego is not close to SU. Most of the MS1 and 2 don't make the drive for lab. To be honest with you, it's not the same experience.

I can tell you that this year there are no contracts available for MSII at SU. Some MSIII also had to left the program at the beginning of the term. Getting a contract is getting tough, and I'm not even talking about scholarships.

I don't know for the National but everything is possible with the campus based scholarship. You should definitely enroll in the class and show your motivation to the program. Be the one showing up for special details instead of be designed by the squad leader; rock the blackboard; color guard/RC..

According to my Sergeant, it is a CC policy. That's why I'm wondering how other bataillons deal with it. He said CC want to create a Cadet Entry Program where newly contracted Cadet would get their uniforms issued like in Basics.
