Army ROTC 2023-2024 3rd Board

Went from Boarded yesterday morning to Boarded/Under Consideration today...

Hers already changed to boarded UC 😑
I wouldn't read too much into this. In past boards, I've seen people report their status flipping around during this period. Don't get down. You're in it until Cadet Command announces that board results have been posted. Until then, it's all just speculation. Hang in there and stay positive!

Remember long breaks from the PC and don't refresh constantly. You will find out soon enough. Then its the next thing. Just sit back and enjoy the journey.

This just came from an enrollment officer our son is considering;

This is just a quick check-in to let you know that you are board ready and your packet is being considered right now.
The board goes until this Friday, Mar 22. The typical processing period takes a week and hopefully by the end of next week (Mar 29) they will release the results.
You will probably know before I can reach out to you, especially if you are watching the portal. If you receive a scholarship offer, I will call and congratulate you. If not then I will send out an email with the next steps.
These next steps will offer the scholarship pathways for National Guard and Army Reserve Minuteman scholarships (which are still available to apply for) and for the active-duty option 3yr Campus Based Scholarship.

Could someone post the website link for the portal. Some reason I can not find the correct site. Thanks in advanced

I have a 3.30 unweighted GPA, a 3.69 weighted GPA, and only a 26 ACT, and was awarded the 3-year scholarship during the January board. These stats are much lower than many people on here so many of y'all are in a good position for at least a 3 year. Of course, I'm keeping hope for an upgrade to a 4 year but still grateful for having received the 3 year one. Good luck everyone.

That's awesome. Congratulations!

My DS also got a 3-year in the January board with a less than stellar ACT score (23) but a higher unweighted GPA (3.85). I think the key takeaway is that we all get too caught up in "the stats" and forget that the Army really does look at the whole person. Each leg of your Scholar-Athlete-Leader tripod is important.

In my DS's case, the ACT score was clearly the weakest piece of the overall application. But I believe that was offset by his excellent grades and a stellar extracurricular portfolio that includes tons of leadership and athletics (won't detail to avoid bragging). It's also easy to overlook the fact that the interview is where you become a real person and not just a bunch of numbers and lists. These folks who conduct the interviews are officers and know the kind of people they are looking for. Making a good impression at the interview is huge and I am certain covers many ills.

Again, best of luck to everyone! Whether this is your first time around, third time around, or you are maybe hoping for an upgrade, we're all in this together. Let's keep positive energy flowing and get ready to celebrate soon.

So if status went from boarded to boarded under construction with in 24 hours, is that a bad sign? Do you usually stay boarded until you are a winner if you get a scholarship? Thanks!

Last board my DS went from boarded to boarded/UC and then back to boarded right before winner. It's not a bad sign that it went to B/UC. It will stay there until right before the decisions come out.

Ok thank you so much!

Sorry meant under consideration. Ha ha

Can someone help with a question regarding declaring a major within the AROTC scholarship? Is it accurate that you must declare a major Day 1 of Freshman year? And if you want to change your major, do you know what the restrictions and limitations are around this? Let’s say you start as chemical engineering and after a semester you want to change to a related major, like straight chemistry for example? I know AROTC is fairly open on acceptable majors but I can’t find detail on when it must be declared and when any deadline for change may go into effect.

Definitely a question for the PMS but we were told switching majors wasn't a huge deal as long as it did not impact your program length.
