USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Just wanted to give yall a heads up that I received a email that said that "we are still in the process of sending find notifications we are making every attempt to notify all candidates by close of business today, but there will be some candidates that will be notified by the end of the week"
o true. And now they are not even hitting their own deadline of the 15th and dragging these kids out even longer. It's not a good look.
The message NomSeeker referred to has been sent to BGO's a well. I understand the frustration, but this year really is not abnormal....its a difficult job, Admissions is juggling a lot of balls trying to get the best class it can and hit the authorized class size as close as possible. They recognize there are individuals sitting on pins and needles, but this is one of those situations where personal interests take back seat to the good of the cause...actually happens a lot in the military.

Also, as an FYI -- I don't think USNA has ever characterized April 15 as a "deadline". The Admissons website says "most" will have heard, and from my observation, that is certainly true. For those that haven't heard, you will...and until you hear something you are still in the game.

@Old Navy BGO - The BIG question of the day is "For those still in the game (pending), what game is left?" Would appreciate your insights based on historical results and your experience at this stage of the "game." Trying to manage expectations here...

Perhaps someone can be more clear on this for me, but from my understanding of the enigma that is the appointment system, while a wave of waitlists has come out, there will still be several offers extended for direct appointment and NAPS and whatnot if I am not mistaken, correct?

yes, USNA just posted a system wide announcement that says they're attempting to get MOST decisions out today, but will likely trickle to the end of the week.

Pending. Are they still releasing decisions today? I don't want to speculate, but it seems like only waitlists have been given out so far.... rejections or acceptances for the rest of us??

I was in the waitlist boat with my son 4 yrs ago. I can empathize.

When the waitlist hit, what I told my son, was to accept the waitlist, but to mentally pivot 100 pct to plan B. If an offer comes? Asses at that point. He did. Signed up for NSI. FULLLY committed to NROTC.

It was a relief. For all of us. Hooped off the forums and got ready for high school graduation. Bc wallowing and being immersed in all that is this, was not healthy for either of us. Letting go, and getting off the forums allowed everyone to move forward.

Then he got the offer mid-May. Accepted and here we are about to commission.

I would recommend this to anyone. It’s such a relief. And you won’t miss notice of being offered an appointment.
Thank you for this advice. Our son is heading to BU this Friday to meet with NROTC. It’s time to pivot. But know Navy is his dream and if it comes he will have the choice.

It's really hard to say, as the answer is simply it could be anything ...it's like a jigsaw puzzle or three dimensional chess, trying to make all the pieces fit asthey balance multiple variables.. including what will happen with outstanding offers, whether someone get a med waiver, etc. I have a couple candidates still pending., and for them I can see where either a wait list or decline is possible.
