USAFA Cadet Computer

I figured we couldn't have them because we can't have TVs until senior year. Where would it go? And that sounds awesome but like I said, I'm not very tech savvy. I just try to buy already decent models

Anywhere on your desk would be fine. You're not allowed a TV, but you're allowed to have a monitor as long as it's under 24 inches. I would defintely defintely recommend getting one as soon as you can, it makes school work, games, and videos easier. Most monitors have hdmi inputs which xboxes have. We hook ours up to a projector and put it on one of the walls. Your squad may or may not allow an xbox, so u would just wait till parents weekend or Thanksgiving to bring it out.

Well this is exciting

New flash, there is 'fun' at USAFA! Just don't let it distract you from your work. [emoji106]

Haha, I think we get so rapped up in the honor of our appointments and the pt and the discipline of the mentality of getting into USAFA that we forget fun can be had. At least for me. I'm anxious but I know this experience is going to be worth it!

Wait, doolies can use media now?

It would appear some squads allow it. I know no doolie in our DS's squad are allowed any. I think they can after Recognition though...

Bring it out here after a-day if your squad allows it. My friends and I normally spend the weekend playing xbox. My element leader and his roomate both have desktops, they built them both and use them for gaming.
Honestly, I am surprised you guys have time for gaming and such. I kind of got the impression that USAFA cadets had no time for anything but school, military duties, sports, etc...

That's exactly what I thought until I got here. You just have to manage your time well and you should have plenty of free time! I normally don't have anything to do after dinner, so it's either netflix time or gym time haha. Every other day I won't have class after 12 pm, and that time is pretty much mine to do with as a I please. On days I don't get out at 12, I get out at 230, and it's the same thing; that time is mine to do with as I please. ICs have it pretty tough because they normally have practice until pretty late. And of course, as an unrecognized freshman, you'll have training sessions. We have about 3 a week, from 4 until 530. But there's plenty of free time, don't worry!

Xbox's? Netflix??? Back when it was hard, doolie media was being able to listen to the radio while taking a shower... o_O;)

Are our future officers of character still required to carry their backpack in the left hand?

Honestly, if even allowed, I'll probably leave my Xbox at home. I want to study psychology so that's gonna take most of my focus and training. But its nice to know the option is there. And from the advice I've been given, I hear we do. I'm not there yet so I'll find out soon haha

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'd bring an Xbox or something either if I went. As much as it's fun (and I'm sure my little brother would appreciate it), it's another "thing." Money, working out squadron issues, etc.

True that! Itll be waiting for me on breaks, no biggie!

I'm trying to live as Spartan as possible, even if I end up going to UW for ROTC. It's a good time in life to jettison "stuff" and begin anew. I'd love how it easy it is to clean when you only own like, six pairs of uniform pants or something.

Yea, extra stuff would probablyake room inspections more work! I'm trying to down grade now and stop shopping before I go to Iday where all I'll need is issued to me.

Haha yes, at least for 11 more days...
