Only 2 more days until Summer Seminar Invites come out!

Just a heads up all . . . last year after DS finally got his "congratulations" email re: Summer Seminar, the portal crashed for a few hours when he was trying to go on and pick which session he wanted to attend -- many, many excited folks overloaded the system I think :). Hopefully that won't happen this year! Just keep refreshing . . .

Do they pick a session or are they assigned? Seems like picking would lead to some confusion and MORE WAITING.
 
You choose which session you prefer. And if I recall correctly, on the portal you can see how many vacancies are left per session.
 
Once you choose your session, your considered "in" for that session. No other waiting required . . . but more paperwork to complete :).

Do you recall what the report in time window was on the starting day? Morning or afternoon?
 
A word for those who aren't lucky enough to get invited to SS. My DD was not given a spot last year, but went to NASS instead. A few months later she got a LOA for USAFAPS while visiting the academy. She called me from the academy so excited that she had a spot. So if you don't get picked for SS, don't give up.

Arrival was on a Sunday at Colorado Springs Airport (not Denver) between 0900 - noon. USAFA provided ground transportation from there.

Summer Seminar activities began at 1300.

I just went and pulled his file off the dining room table (we are anxiously awaiting news re: Appointments) --
DS's email from the Academy was time stamped 15:55. I think that was probably our local East Coast time.
 
Does anyone know if they pass the CFA during SS, do they have to take it again during the academy application process?

So theoretically, no, if you pass during SS, you don't have to retake it. When I was at SS, no one was keeping very good track of CFA scores, though, and there were no instructions on turning it in. If you are at SS and want to use your CFA scores, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND letting your cadre know, and making sure that whoever is administering each portion of the test accurately records your results. Then, you should make sure to get very careful instructions on how exactly to submit it. Other people's experiences may have been different, but when I was there, no one was really keeping track (we did have some chaos due to bad weather though, so that may have been a factor).
 
By the way, what news did y'all get regarding SS? Who got in? Who didn't? I'm very curious to hear! I've been nervous for you all the past few days!

Oh no! I am sorry to hear that! I know; the waiting sucks SO much! (Currently I am a C/O 2019 applicant waiting to hear if I was appointed!) Hang in there though and I will be praying for all of you! And please keep in mind, that getting in to or not getting into SS is NO indication of chances of admission! Lots who got in won't be accepted next year, and vice versa!
 
I couldn't stand it so I sent an email....was assured that notifications will indeed go out by the end of the day...
