Hi I feel like I'm in a bit of trouble for the CFA test. For the army ROTC physical fitness test I got 27 push ups and 37 sit ups and a 6:40 mile and hat was just recently. I still have to take the candidate fitness assessment for West Point, so I'm not entirely sure how I could improve so much in just 1 month. I'm going to try and take the test in early November.

Have you tried to simulate the CFA yet? If you only did 27 push ups, the pull ups, and BB throw may be a challenge for you as well.

There is a USNA midshipman named "MiddyB" on this forum who helped my DS improve his CFA score significantly. I don't know if you can accomplish what you need in one month, but his program is the best. I suggest you send him a private message.

The ROTC test is 1 minute for the selected push-ups and sit-ups, where as the CFA is 2 minutes. So hopefully that changes your opinion

If you could only do 27 push ups in a minute, I doubt having 2 minutes will make a significant difference. You also do push-ups second to last so you are already exhausted by the time you get there.

My bad, Yellow. My DS never took the AROTC test, he only took the CFA and the APFT (which is 2 minutes on pushups and situps). Nonetheless, DS maxed his pull ups and pushups on the CFA with the program that MiddyB suggested. I wish you the best of luck.

Hello, I am a girl and am only 5'0 so I struggled with some aspects of the CFA. I took it at USNA Summer Seminar last spring and passed on the first try. I did the test every night (exactly simulating it) for three weeks prior to the actual date I took it. Practice really does make perfect. When I started, my scores were as follows:
BBall: 25 ft
Push-ups: 39
Sit-ups: 60
Pull-ups: 4
Shuttle: 12 sec
Mile: 10 min

On the real test, I scored:
Bball: 33 ft
Push-ups: 50 (MAX)
Sit-ups: 85
Pull-ups: 7 (MAX)
Shuttle run: 10 sec
Mile: 8:10

I had a lot of good training tips which I am happy to share. PM me if you are interested. Hope this helps.

Why not just post those tips here so everyone can benefit.

For pull ups it helped me to breath in on the way up and breath out on the way down. It also helped to go down and up as quickly as permitted.

I took the CFA today and I did well below what I've done. I blame it on football. The practice, bruises, all of that stuff. I practiced and basically I wasn't in to it today, but this is what I got.

BB throw 71
Pull-ups 11
Shuttle. 8.4
Sit ups 87
Push ups 75
Run 6:22
