New LTs will be less respected?

Again, I'm not sure where this "pro-born in the U.S." believe is coming from, because I haven't seen it on here. If it makes you feel any better, my girlfriend is a naturalized U.S. citizen from Uruguay (La Celeste!)

I think your timeline, for a federal service academy, is ambitious. And while often ambition is a great thing, I think you'll want to have backup plans, just incase everything doesn't line up perfectly.

The get a green card --> graduate from high school --> work on a $1 million start up business --> get your U.S. citizen ship --> apply to an academy --> be accepted to an academy….. well, that's not easy, of course. These are extra hurdles, beyond the "get excepted to an extremely difficult, highly selective college."

You plan for the worst and hope for the best.

You're a lucky guy! Uruguayan girls are hot..I like their spanish accent..(please...no offense to your gf).

Back to topic... Yes. This is probably the craziest plan ever seen in this forum.

Here's a hint: In the adult world, when someone tells you their spouse or girlfriend or significant other is from a place or does a thing or plays a sport or anything else, don't response with "they're HOT"…. even if they are. That's something people might say in middle school or high school…. but not with other adults (at least, not typically). We're in our 30s, I don't need a teen responding about looks, even if it's only positive.

That's just a tone thing, you'll figure it out, but I recommend trying to "upgrade" your approach… to a slightly more "professional" angle…. no stupid photos, no "your mom" no "hot."

Just a suggestion.

Just tuned in, has this thread really gone on for 5 pages? Must be a slow news week.

Sorry..You're right.
FYI I'm not a perverted. I should have said: ''they are beautiful'' or ''they are pretty''..or.. none of this..
Become a military officer doesn't mean a person is ''saint'', ''perfect'', ''puritan'' or something else.
Most military guys use colourful language, are drunks, beat their wives etc etc etc... This is wrong...but happens everyday .We can't hide this fact.
People on here, show an ''image'' of officers and, military folks in general, that doesn't exist.
If they weren't involved in troubles... This is a big lie.
Of course, they may be smart, strong, courageous, with highly professional procedures...But...no one is perfect.
In the real military life, there are persons doing uggliest things than post innocent jokes.

Ok..We can't generalize..So...Please.. no offense

My intention is to become a good leader, but I know that military environment isn't a paradise.

Please just stop. You keep digging yourself deeper. The majority of us responding to you are officers, former officers, spouses to officers or parents of officers (and some fall into several of these categories). We certainly don't need to be lectured by a teenager on the 'ways of the military' who hasn't raised their hand yet. We know the image because we lived it daily or are living it. We are part of the image and know the image and reality. Trust me no officer is perfect, none of us would ever profess to be. No one has ever made them claim and if they did, we would laugh and call BE on them. Most of us can make a list of our screw ups especially as JOs. I think this board does a good job speaking to the realities of the life of a JO. You haven't been in uniform or been an officer, yet you want to lecture us on what the reality is. Oh that ugly stuff... Been there done that. There is a time and place to joke; you haven't learned it yet. And never make a joke or whatever that is in reference to military folks beating their spouses. That isn't funny anywhere. And if it does happen, trust me, it is dealt with harshly... Generally the end of careers.

I have been patient in my responses as many others have. Stop while you are ahead.

Ugh. I was watching this with amusement and befuddlement until this beauty of a statement was posted. Now? Well, let me give you some advice, my fine young man. Go away. On behalf of the US Military, let me be the first to say "You aren't the right material to join us". Now, go start your million dollar company and work on becoming a citizen. You obviously don't want to join an organization made of such miscreants as liars and wife-beaters such as us, do you?

Just..... Go away..

go41rforc3,

Here is my suggestion to you. Type your post. REREAD it twice before you hit send.

Look at your last few posts.
Ok...I'm not the NY Times staff writer...but sounds like everything I said make me look like an idiot. I'm not an idiot.
I know what I want to do and what it takes

You follow it with saying to LITS an idiotic comment regarding his GF in my opinion. I get you are 18, but would you say that comment to someone 15 years older than you? I highly doubt it.

You than go onto lecture posters about something you have no knowledge about.
Most military guys use colourful language, are drunks, beat their wives etc etc etc... This is wrong...but happens everyday .We can't hide this fact
MOST are drunks, beat their wives, etc? There are some, and I would say that the minute they illustrate an alcohol dependency or violence they are drummed out.
~ There were 2 guys (O1s) at SJAFB waiting to go to UPT. One got a DUI. His pilot slot was pulled, and they said thank you very much, but we will part ways now, we won't keep you for the 5 and dive marker.
Do they use colorful language? Yes, but not in public. They are professional at all times.
Those days of barstoolers in the AF, yes, there was a group called barstoolers, are long gone. By long gone I mean before you were a twinkle in your mother's eyes.

Be prepared for some pushback on that comment.
If they weren't involved in troubles... This is a big lie.
Again, this illustrates you know nothing about life in the military, especially if you want to fly for the AF. You will go through a Top Secret Security clearance. They will go all the way back in your life. They will interview people in your life. This is done not just once, but every 5 years. There was a poster here that was disenrolled out of AFROTC because when he filled the DoDMERB portion out he said he smoked pot 1x, but for the security clearance he admitted 3 times. They said goodbye to him. I don't know if it was because they saw 3x and considered that as not experimentation, or he changed the number, but still your belief is off the mark.
~ The AF is not hurting for personnel. They can take the pick of the litter.

I won't even comment on your original post....okay...yes. I will. Again, you are making assumptions that are utterly false.
~ Do you know what the word ASSUME means? Make an A$$ out of U and ME.

Xposted with my DH, Bullet. Let me give you insight on him, and everyone here will agree. This is a guy that doesn't say those type of things....ever!

I told you there would be blow back with that MOST are drunks, and violent, plus them being liars.

This is the worst case of chain yanking I've ever seen on this forum. I've seen goofier set-ups, but no more gullible bait-takers.

On the off chance that OP is honestly describing his/her situation, I'm not sorry. I wouldn't want you in a US SA or in the US at all. Go do your $million deal in Canada or the Caribbean. They make it much easier. I'd rather hand out citizenships to the guys working 13 hrs/day replacing my roof.

Bull's wistful comment reminded me of high school. I'd recognize that shy, beguiling countenance anywhere, though its been decades. Lithe, nimble, she could reach the shuttlecock from anywhere on the lawn. But she broke my heart when she turned down my invitation to the Senior Prom, and I haven't picked up a badminton racket since. She had more teeth in those days too.

Again, sorry if I told something wrong. Ok... Yes, I've posted a lot of sh#t.But this wasn't my intention at all.

Now I'm probably the least favorite poster on this forum.

The motto ''been there, done that'' combine all your answers into one.
I can't said ANYTHING about ''how the military works'' until I join the USAF.

Oh...I was reading some statistics about the AF Personnel as well as its airmen biographies (including fallen airmen).
They have impressive performance records, and I learned a lot of resilience lessons with them.

Moral of the story:

Misconduct cases may happen to any institution(government, church, school, industry, business etc).
So, I can't generalize or hurt a specific class reputation/image, just because SOME members make ugly things.

In the end, I don't wanna live a life of regrets. This is my dream, and I'll give my best to make it possible.

I hope someday I also share my experiences in the AF.

There is a rough path...

Thank you so much.
