Nomination Reference Letters?

Hi, I'm applying to West Point and the Naval Academy in the near future, I was just wondering when applying for a nomination from both senators and representatives do you use the same reference letters for all applications?
 
If you're talking about recommendation letters, you can, but check the MOC/Senator guidelines first. It would look careless to have a letter addressed to your Senator sent to your Congressional Rep. Ask your recommendation writers to either give you a generic letter or properly addressed copies for each. Your nominating sources may have specific guidelines they want you to follow though.
 
As a general rule, use the same individuals as references for each nominating source. This will make your life easier in keeping track of who has done what.

Per GoforSpaatz, each nomination source may have a different requirement regarding references (for example, on congressman might want 2 and the Senator may require 3), make sure you know their process.

As for us, DD had all the LORs returned to her and then she sent the entire completed package to the MOC. Though the LORs were in their own individual envelopes, the packet as a whole was submitted to each MOC. (Make a copy of everything before submitting the package)
 
^^ I agree. It is best to carefully read/follow the directions provided by your MOC website for the latest cycle. What was done in a prior year may be different from what they ask for this year. Most MOC's have websites that describe their application process in detail.

My congressmen requires at least 3, as for my senators, one requires at most 2 and the other doesn't want any. As for copying everything, my congressmen requires that the recommender signs their name over the seal of the letter so that I may not see it and therefore not copy it just in case.
 
My DD collected the recommendation letters which were delivered to her in sealed envelopes so she knew everything was done when she shipped the entire nominaton packet to each of her nomination sources.

The folks that wrote her recommendations also provided her with a copy which I believe is a common practice

And the person opening the letter at the MOC office is not checking the integrity of the envelope or matching the signature across the seal to the signature on the letter. (Not that I would recommend any tampering but that's the reality)
 
Some MOC's require letters from Different people, be it teachers, administrators, employers, or others, and another MOC may require someone else. However, my son had a group of people who all did a basic letter, and then they did separate heading for each MOC. Its important to keep a separate file for each MOC.
