I am retired USN Senior Chief. My son's #1 goal is the Naval Academy. Plan B will be NROTC. He is a junior and is considering VMI, Va Tech, Citadel, South Carolina, and NC State for NROTC. He has scheduled "spend the night" with both VMI and Va Tech coming up in the spring. We live in South Carolina. I looked forward to learning from this forum and being able to share experiences.
 
have him do his ROTC interview at the school of his choice. Better likely hood of getting ROTC offer if that particular school wants him.

Lots of good info here, but primary sources are essential. Read every USNA Admissions web page, drop down and link. Many questions are answered there, as well as the Nominations forum here.

If he wants sea service, don't let him overlook USCGA, a great way to go.
