Congrats on the CGAS appointment. That extra year of prep makes swab summer and the first year easier to adjust to!
To get more information on the prep schools, you can go to the GMC website at http://www.gmc.edu and the MMI site at http://www.marionmilitary.edu. Please do not start your applications at the prep schools until the school assignments are made by CGA Admissions. That should happen in the April/May time frame. Prep school applications must be completed with original documentation, but admission is automatic by virtue of being CGA Scholars.
I'd also recommend campus visits to the prep schools. You'll get a chance to meet your advisors and instructors, and get a better feel for the prep schools in general. Remember, these are not just prep schools, but accredited colleges. Credit you earn is transferable.
Best of luck and see you in August.[/QUOTE
Do you know what determines where someone is sent? Is there only so much space available at one school? I've also heard the are sending some to NAPS again.
My DS isn't a recruited athlete and they are assigned a prep school. My son is a junior and plans to apply next year. Wondering, are those of you who have been accepted for prep school recruited athletes? Also, do you have a choice of prep schools, or are they assigned by CGA?
Apply for AIM for this summer as well!My son is a junior and plans to apply next year. Wondering, are those of you who have been accepted for prep school recruited athletes? Also, do you have a choice of prep schools, or are they assigned by CGA?
Congratulations!Just letting all you Coast Guard applicants know; I received a CGAS appointment on 12/9.. denied because I have accepted my NAPS offer. Hope this opens up that spot for someone else who is just as deserving. Wish everyone the best.
DS was able to go to AIM and he loved it. He performed well at AIM and it's my opinion that this helped him on his application. Thanks for the feedback. My son does plan to apply for AIM and really hopes to get the AIM opportunity/experience.
I applied to AIM but did not get it, so don't be discouraged if he is not picked. If you can, try to visit the academy through Cadet for a day or the Genesis Invitational. This is a diversity program open to first generation college student and minorities. I was able to go to Gensis and it was a great experience. The prospective student is able to shadow a Cadet and see what the academic side of the academy is like. Thanks for the feedback. My son does plan to apply for AIM and really hopes to get the AIM opportunity/experience.
Congratulations!Just offered CGAS this morning!
