Civilian Parents Visiting Deployed Daughter at Kadena

Our daughter (AF pilot) is scheduled to deploy to Kadena late 2020 and has invited us (her parents) to visit her while there. She's been there a couple times prior. It appears that there is a procedure for obtaining unescorted access to the base. Although I've heard renting a car is a good way...

    D/D dropped RC-135

Haven't been on the forum in a long time. Was looking at some old emails and came across a link to your reply. Daughter has been at Offutt now for 2 years. You were spot on with your comments. She's doing well. After an initial disappointment in the assignment, she's come around to like it...

    Eagle's Peak Memories

...just reminiscing about the time I climbed Eagle's Peak. Would like to hear stories from others who have done it and put out a challenge to parents of new cadets. DD entered the Academy in 2011. Had toured the area in 2010. Developed a bucket list of things I wanted to see and do before DD...

    Allowable boots?

I just had to "like" and reply because I'm a Roy Orbison fan and thought he had passed. Long live Roy Orbison! Being a father of an Air Force pilot, I'll forgive him for his song "Blue Angel"!!

    Old vs. Blended retirement choice

I know there is so much information on this already within this forum, but I'm specifically looking for what I believe was a link to a recent service academy grad's own study and matrix comparing the two systems. Anyone recall this? I wish I'd have bookmarked it at the time!

    Surgery at USAFA related ???

I know this is a bit different than a collar bone, but our DD had major orthodontic surgery while at USAFA. Satisfied with the the work done. It may be a comfort to you to know that even though she now has several metal plates in her facial/jaw area, and around 30 screws, she just graduated...

    Housing at/around Offutt advice?

Situation: Unattached DD - first assignment RC-135 Offutt. Sounds like she'll be there for the better part of 10 years, with somewhat frequent deployments. Question: Rent off base or buy a home? She seems pretty adamant about not living on base. Advice? Thanks!

    D/D dropped RC-135

Looks like there are 3 Cobra Balls, 2 Combat Sents and 17 Rivet Joints in inventory. Seems like the Rivet Joints pretty much have missions planned a year out.

    D/D dropped RC-135

If she were to marry, have kids, I suppose the mission of this aircraft presents no more advantages/disadvantages on family life than do other airframes/missions? Probably PCSing less often?

    D/D dropped RC-135

D/D dropped an RC-135 last night. I know the basics about the aircraft, but can anyone tell me a little bit about "the life of an RC-135 pilot", how frequently and for how long they are typically deployed, or about Offut AFB? Thank you.
