I feel like this is prob a really stupid question but its somethin I've been wondering. What does the D in DS, DD, DH, etc. mean? I know DS is a son and DD is a daughter and all that, but what does the D stand for?

Sooo, I'm from Massachusets. I received an LOA to USNA on December 23rd and am going for my DodMerb remedial in two days.
