There are also numerous facebook pages for the parents of MIDS. I believe it is mandatory that a midshipman purchase a ring.

Is there some sort of guaranteed enlistment-to-USNA program?

I have not heard of such a program and doubt there are "guarantees". "2 for 7" usually refers to the 2 years at USNA before you sign your contract to complete the other 2 years and serve 5 years.

    Plebe Parents During Commissioning Week

I hope you didn't take my comment as rude as I was not trying to be so. I think your plan is great. My son was on 0 Block assignment that summer and did not have the opportunity to participate in the Herndon Climb but we drove in for it anyway, took pictures of the event and then left.

What can Mids keep in their rooms?

From what I have seen, what is permissible varies from year to year and company to company. However, no matter what is permitted, you will not have time for a lot of "extras" and you will want to minimize any distractions. When touring 2/C son's room recently, he (and 2 roommates) had very...

    Lose 30lbs for Sprint Football?

Dear CandidateElias15 - Sprint Football is intense. It is a varsity sport and some on the "big boys" team have said that their workout/practice regiment is not nearly as intense as Sprint. The season is shorter which means you do not miss as much class time.

    quick question...

You are not too old. Prior enlisted men and women, those who have one or more years of college are among the ranks of Plebes. While there is all 4 year classes in each company, Plebes room with Plebes. As long as you don't turn 23 before I-Day, you are fine.

'Best and brightest' article from hometownannapolis.com

My son, an African American, was admitted directly to the Academy with the Class of 2013 (and as I see on the stats only 1 of 40 African Americans). He was a non-recruited athlete with good SAT scores, graduated in the top 7% of his high school class, had a nomination from one of our State...
