    Shaving during Beast

This is the kind of thing that you should really not worry too much about. With that in mind, I would just recommend whatever works for you and doesn't cut your face. Something you can shave fairly quickly with. Also, keep in mind you'll spend a few days in the field - I haven't noticed anyone...

    USMA Parachute Team

A buddy of mine said the license (which I guess is the base cost... I don't know what else you pay for on a regular basis if you pay for anything at all) costs around $2500.

    USMA Parachute Team

You won't have to jump out of a plane/helicopter during tryouts. They test you in other ways to check for a few things, such as how much you really want to be a part of team, do you have a good personality, etc. In other words, they test you to see if you would be a good fit for the team.

    USMA Parachute Team

I tried out and I didn't make it. That being said... -No, you do not need prior experience. -They always say time commitment is a big thing, so you should have good grades and be good at time management. -You need to be able to represent yourself and the Academy well. The parachute team gets a...

    Building up Candidate profile late.

Additionally, I don't see how applying this year is going to hurt you at all. First, it helps you to understand the process. Second, you will seem persistent if you apply for a second time (as opposed to "I did not apply a first time because I did not get in"). Finally, you might get offered a...

^Disregard, I didn't realize this was the USMMA forum. My bad, info might be inaccurate for USMMA.

    CFA Practice Test

When I was a candidate, I was told to treat the "Average Performance Score" as the minimums. Good tip... you never want to just to the "minimum." Also, an "overall" score does not guarantee a pass or fail - if you fail one event, you fail the whole thing. That being said, I believe he will pass...

    National Defense Service Ribbon

Yes, but there are standards that must be met (I think everyone is required to complete all Recondo events - at least my company was - but you need to perform at a certain level to get the Recondo badge).

    Tips & Tricks for Beast

Hmm... pack your weight high and tight, if you are a guy. And make sure everything is tight, in general (not much rattling in with any gear), as a general rule. I wish SOMEBODY had told me that during Beast... :p

    AP Results

Advanced courses are just an "advanced section" which means you learn the same thing but, supposedly, the students are smarter so the discussions are better or the lectures don't have to take as long. For example, in advanced chem, you do some enrichment trips (I don't think regular chem gets to...

Visiting West Point - MAPS R-day

Oh yeah, I mean, once you're stuck at West Point and can't go anywhere good, then Barnstormers will do the trick I think... but if you have the option to get out of there, go to a real bbq place :) :thumb:

    The Beast

:yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol: :yllol::yllol::yllol: hahahahah! Seriously though, you will have plenty of time to memorize knowledge, specially in the first weeks. Do not worry too much about knowing it beforehand, though no one is stopping you. Really, do NOT come knowing...

Visiting West Point - MAPS R-day

I would recommend spending a day or two in NYC if you or anyone in your family hasn't been there yet (I am surprised by the number of cadets who have never been to NYC after their first semester here). West Point itself can be explored in a day or two, in my opinion. At West Point, make sure you...

    SLE CFA

The thing about the APFT/CFA events is that you don't really have to schedule them! Bust some pushups right before you go in the shower after practice, for example (if feasible), and a pullup bar on a doorway you go through often will be of great assistance! :) Best of luck!!

    SLE CFA

You'll do really well (given your circumstances) if you do 5x max effort pushups, 5x max effort situps (at the end of these sets, you should need help to stand up), 5x max effort pullups (also, put a pullup bar in your room's door and everytime you pass under it, do a pullup), run some/do hockey...

    SLE CFA

Nobody really knows. You should treat the averages as minimums and you'll do great. Although the minimums are lower than the averages, I highly recommend you try to at LEAST reach average in every event (of course, you should try maxing everything).

    Purchasing Own Gear?

My Beast company had the SOP that the IFAK was on the left hip + you had to have on your FLC all the TA-50 that goes on it (so yeah... we had space for 12 mags even though we were just issued 7 hahaha)
