Dear Prospective Midshipman - PTR update

Below is the e-mail for those who did not receive it...I almost deleted it - anyways.... "Dear Prospective Midshipman, We are pleased to extend our congratulations to you on your acceptance of our offer to join the Brigade of Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy. You can look...

    22 year old plebe?

I wouldn't worry about age...I'll be 21 during plebe summer and 22 during plebe year. If anything I think I am more grateful to be given this amazing oppurtunity (my allergy waiver was approved today so I am estatic). Honestly, I don't think I could have done it straight out of H.S., but now...

    nuclear power school

As a non-nuke enlisted direct appointment, I think it is important that those considering enlistment pick a rate that suits their "taste". This way you're going to be engaged in something you're interested in thus making you're command performance (big part of USNA app) better. I enlisted as...

    Secretary of the Navy Nomination

I don't believe they can...as I understand it they give them out to active and reserve Sailors and Marines. Are you applying for 2012?

    Medical DQ

What is the standard time frame the waiver authorities take to make a decision. The woman at USNA told me that I had an LOA and was waiting on that waiver (dealing with allergy shots from 5 years ago). According to DODMERB my exam was reviewed yesterday, and I can't help but wonder the average...

    Physical requirments/Swimming

If "Semper Fu" is modeled after basic MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program), then yes your just learning enough to get your ass kicked. The higher MCMAP levels are pretty amazing, but all the tan belt stuff is more dangerous to the person learning it than the person they're fighting.

student leadership organization AND the naval academy

Question for those currently at USNA - what is/was it like for prior-enlisted mids? I hopefully (if granted medical waiver) will be starting this upcoming year and was wondering the benefits / disadvantages of being a "prior" and also being about four years older than most plebes. Thanks for...

    LOA / appoinment

Dodmerb also had NALOA subagency under my file. I called admissions and was told that I was scholastically qualified, but that I needed to get my medical waiver completed (seeing an allergist this Friday). Along the same line of questioning, does this basically mean I get my waiver and I am...
